Exactly What I Needed
My property has a groundhog problem, and my vegetable garden can disappear overnight. I’ve tried using loose chicken wire on top so that they fall off, but once my tomato plants get large enough, they offer enough support for the groundhogs to climb in. My husband came up with the idea to run a single wire “fence” about 6” off the ground and about a foot from the garden border. Last year, we used a rechargeable battery that had to be taken inside to charge for 16 hours, leaving the garden vulnerable. This year, we decided to try this solar-charging battery instead so that we don’t have to charge it manually except for its first charge. With the panels directed toward the southern sky, the battery gets topped off every day. It has been running now for weeks without extra charging, and that includes six or so days of cloudy weather. Installation is easy. You charge the battery fully beforehand before mounting on a pole or stake. I use a metal stake with a T-shaped top. The battery has two wires, a black one for grounding and a red one to electrify the wire. You do have to be careful that nothing touches the wire or else the battery will beep to alert you to a short. I make sure that the grass around the garden never gets too high. Groundhogs may be persistent, but they aren’t entirely stupid. It takes only a couple of tries before they decide to move elsewhere. Of course, like cows, they will test it periodically, which is why it’s important to keep the fence electrified and free of obstacles at all times. I wish I had started with the solar-charging battery instead of the one I used last year. It’s worth every penny.

Seems good value and reasonable price. It’s working. These solar chargers never last long, a year or so, so we shall see. I Love! The clips on it that allow for EASY connection to the fence and ground wire. I’m using the electric fence around my garden. Not that pretty, but we e got lots of bunnies and deer pirates.

Works awesome for squirrel fence
So happy with my purchase. My squirrel fence works perfectly, the battery works enough though the night even when days were not too sunny. Haven’t checked when rain will fall for 3 consecutive days but so far excellent. Seems durable (time will tell, it’s only been a week)

Easy to install and to upkeep
Not horrible shock but enough to let the animal know not to do it again. Dogs stay away from the fence as desired. Kept them out of my chickens without much work! Definitely would buy again.
