I recently received this "49FT Solar String Lights Outdoor, Dimmable Patio Lights Solar Powered with Remote & USB Port 18+1 LED Shatterproof Bulbs 3 Light Modes, Waterproof Solar Light for Camping Backyard Garden" and I like them so much that I just ordered a second set. I have been slowly coming around to using my back yard as an area for entertaining, though I'm so much of a hermit that the only ones being entertained most of the time are me and my pup, and she's really not too demanding when it comes to entertainment! The back yard has been a work in progress since I moved into the house, but 2026 is the first year I've felt like there's been any progress, and the space is finally becoming an area I'd like to hang out. All that being said, the reason I wanted the solar string lights was to add some ambience to the area - and to make me want to hang out there more! I ordered these lights and was immediately excited about the way they'd potentially look. I had to stop myself from getting to far ahead of myself, though. Nothing stings like "buyer's remorse," ya know, and I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment. When it comes to solar lights, I've had a full spectrum of luck. I've had path lights that didn't work at all. I've had string lights that shouldn't have ever worked and are still running, four years later. I've had smart solar lights, though they're often more problematic than I feel like they're worth. And I've had plenty of "non-smart" solar lights, much like this set. I'm very pleased to report that these lights not only met my expectations, they surpassed them. Granted, I lowered the bar to mentally prep myself for them to be awful, but still. I like feeling a LACK of disappointment when a product arrives, so this was a full win as far as I'm concerned. The lights are very simple to set up and if you've used solar lighting features before, the way these operate will likely be familiar. The solar panel is the real workhorse in this setup, and I'm very pleased that the panel they used for this set seems appropriately large. The ON/OFF switch is on the backside of the panel, so just be sure to set it to ON before placing it - otherwise, the panel won't retain any of that delicious solar energy as future battery power, and then everyone will be forced to sit around and socialize in the dark, and we really don't want that, do we? The set comes with a remote, though I can't really imagine myself using it. I guess there may be times where I want the solar lights NOT on, but generally speaking, I like my solar lights to stay lit until the sun rises, or until they deplete the battery and can stay lit no more. Work, solar cells! Work! XD The remote (and also the button on the back of the panel, actually) allows you to control the lights. You can power them on, turn them off, and adjust the brightness level. You can also select which of the three modes you want to use. Personally, I just want them on and solid. Maybe dimmed down some. But you CAN choose to have them flashing (all at once), or have them do a "slow fade" which I personally think is almost frantic feeling and not at all "slow." Personally, this is a negative, because the "slow fade" is my go-to lighting effect in most situations where it's an option. I love the soothing quality that the fade in/out has, but if it goes too quickly (like these), the effect ends up seeming more like a slow flashing/blinking than a "fade" at all. Regardless, I keep them just set to "ON" and that's more than sufficient for my needs. I set these up along the fence line between my house and a neighbor's. Along the way, I got myself wrapped in cord a time or two and actually stepped on a bulb. Impressively, the bulb did not shatter. I do not recommend stepping on them though. When I was finished hanging them, I stood back to check them out. I liked the look, but decided it was kinda weird to accentuate that particular area, and I ended up moving them along the adjacent fence. I liked that slightly more, but immediately wished I'd left them back in the first location. I then had a genius idea - order a second set! So I did. The video I uploaded focuses on the "effects" and showing the three dimming settings (75, 50, and 25%), but at the very tail-end of the clip, you can see the second sest on the perpendicular fence line. Oh, and for those who are curious, the remote for one set does work perfectly fine with a second. In fact, I didn't even have o do the "pairing" step with the remote when the second set arrived. The battery life on these lights has been pretty impressive. Here in North America, we're still about a month from technical summer as I type this review, so days are getting longer. We're getting just shy of 10h of darkness between sunset and sunrise right now, and so far, these lights have been working the full night shift since I set them up. I will be curious to see how long the battery lasts, long-term, but if it should start failing prematurely or lasting considerably shorter, I'll update this review to reflect that change. When I ordered this 49' set of string lights, they were priced at $23.99 and it should probably go without saying that I would order them again as I already did that, lol. They're so easy to use, look great, and are priced very affordably, at least in my opinion. Like I said, I liked them enough to order them twice, so I'm more than happy recommending these string lights to others.

Year round plastic-bulb string lights with solar panel and remote. 3 modes and dimming feature

We spend a lot of time outside in our backyard with our dogs, and we wanted to add a bit of character between our two large trees, so we ordered these 50ft solar string lights. Once out of the box, I noticed the bulbs are plastic instead of glass, which is great for outdoor durability. During setup, a few lights didn’t turn on at first, but they just weren’t fully screwed in. Once I went through and tightened each bulb, everything worked perfectly. One thing to note is that the first bulb starts about 8ft from the solar panel, so the usable lit length is technically only 42ft. I’d recommend planning for that when measuring your layout, and would advertise as 42ft, personally. If I had to change one thing, I would've added a few more lights and placed them a little closer together on the line. Installation is easy because of the built-in clips on each bulb. However, since we are hanging these from the two trees, we won't be needing them. The opposite end of the strand has a small rubber ending with a hole, so it can be secured with a nail or screw. It also comes with mounting screws and anchors for the solar panel along with a detachable stake if putting it in the ground, though we plan to replace those with wood screws for a more secure hold. These were super easy to install! The solar panel is adjustable so you can angle it toward the best sunlight, and it tightens in place with a small knob on the back. On the panel itself, there’s an on/off switch and a mode switch. The lights plug in easily to the backside, and there’s also a USB-C port on the side for charging on cloudy or rainy days. There are 3 lighting modes: steady, flash, and breathe (shown in the video). Something not mentioned in the instructions is that the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the remote adjust brightness and also change the speed of the 3 modes. Pairing the remote was simple; I just turned the lights on and held the power button until the lights flashed twice. Battery life seems solid, with about 8hrs of charging providing up to 20hrs of use (depending on brightness and mode use of course). For our setup, since the trees are spaced apart, we’re mounting the solar panel and lights at a consistent height so we can use as much of the full length as possible. Overall, these lights are weatherproof, easy to install, and work well year-round. I ordered them during a 40% off sale for around $24, which is a great deal. At that price, I’d definitely recommend them. At full price ($39.99), with the lifetime warranty on parts, it's still a great deal.

Versatile Solar String Lights With Good Ambience, but Brightness Depends on Setup

These 50ft solar string lights are a solid option for outdoor ambient lighting on patios, decks, and backyard spaces. The shatterproof bulbs feel more durable than traditional glass-style string lights, and the overall build is well suited for outdoor use where weather exposure and occasional handling are expected. Once hung, they create a warm, decorative glow that works well for evenings and gatherings. The dimmable feature and remote control add a lot of convenience, allowing brightness adjustment and mode changes without having to manually access the unit. The multiple lighting modes are useful depending on whether you want steady lighting or a more decorative flicker effect. The USB backup charging option is also a helpful feature for days with limited sunlight. The solar panel does a decent job charging during full sun exposure, and runtime is generally sufficient for nighttime use when positioned correctly. The waterproof rating also gives confidence during light rain or humid conditions. There are a couple downsides though. Brightness is heavily dependent on how much direct sunlight the panel receives, so shaded installations may result in shorter runtime or dimmer output. The light spacing and bulb intensity are better suited for atmosphere rather than strong illumination, so they won’t replace functional lighting. The wiring also requires a bit of planning during installation to avoid sagging or uneven spacing. Overall, this is a reliable set of solar string lights that performs well for decorative outdoor lighting. It’s best suited for ambience and mood lighting rather than task lighting, but it does that job effectively when properly positioned.

50 ft. solar string lights (18 +1 bulbs) - dimmable, chargeable, with remote control

I got this 50-feet string of solar LED lights (brand: plosim) for lighting up our backyard.  They have extra plastic hooks on each bulb that make them easy to hang between posts and on the vinyl siding.  I placed part of the string on tree branches.  When I turn them on at night, they look tranquilly beautiful.  They actually are brighter and stay lit longer than another string (10 bulbs) that I ordered before.  The Edison LED filaments in these bulbs are longer (therefore, brighter) and that the hue is warm white makes them ideal for quiet nights lounging on the patio. This set is of high manufacturing quality. I appreciate the clear and detailed instructions as well as the troubleshooting tips.  This is by far the most comprehensive set of solar string lights I've ever owned.  It has a full-feature remote control (came with batteries), an extra bulb, and a USB-C charging cable.  Illumination is guaranteed even on cloudy and rainy days.  The remote is easy to pair.  It makes changing the mode, dimming, and setting duration (the timer) so easy without stepping outside. They look durable and the plastic bulbs are shatterproof. These weatherproof lights can be used outdoors all year round. I probably will just leave them out unless it turns out that they couldn't stand the gusty winds that we get occasionally.  I love these string lights a lot.  After we finish assembling our new pergola (fingers crossed), I'd order another string to place under the canopy.  These are awesome, cozy lights for our backyard. It was a fantastic price at $23.99 (at the time of order) for the value and quality.
