Great set, especially for the price. Inexpensive, not "cheap".
Pros - I have a LOT of tools. It almost felt silly to buy a cheap little toolkit but I wanted something to leave in the car (just in case). I can easily put together a small bag of tools out of my existing supply, but then I saw this, and the price, and thought, why not. It's probably junk but it should do most things. I was very impressed with the quality of the tools. The first thing I used out of it was the combination pliers to cut about 20 small screws. I was pleasantly surprised that they were both sharp and durable, after cutting all the screws there was no sign of wear on the pliers (cheap pliers would have started to show an indentation where the screws were cut dulling them and eventually making them useless.) After that I changed out the carburetor on a weedeater. Again all the tools I needed were in this kit, and all did their job without showing any signs of being weak or cheap. After this I bought another one of these to put in the car as this one is so handy, I'll just leave it in the garage and save myself a lot of trips to the shop for tools. The grips are a soft rubber which feels very anti slip, so that is good. The grips in the case are also very nice compared to many other kits I've had similar over the years. Often the plastic recess is made of a hard rigid plastic which makes it very difficult to actually get the tools to snap into place. This is made of a slightly softer plastic making it a lot easier to get tools in and out, without them being so loose they might fall out on their own. CONS - I didn't find this sooner :).. seriously. Little I can say negative about this. It might have been nice if they had included a crescent wrench but the adjustable water pump pliers are a close second. The hinges on the case "look" very weak. To be clear I have not had any issue yet, but it looks fragile compared to the rest of the case. Just be careful you don't overly stress the hinges and it should be fine for years. There are two deep sockets for spark plugs, yet neither fit the spark plug in my weedeater. So it seems like there is a standard size missing there. IF that is what you are getting this for, just be sure you know what size sparkplug you have. Since this was an exposed plug unlike most engines, I was able to just use a wrench on it.

Reliable, Handy, and Perfect for Everyday Household Repairs
I picked up the Amazon Basics 173-Piece Tool Kit to have a go-to set of tools around the house—and it has quickly become one of the most practical purchases I’ve made. From tightening loose screws to assembling furniture, hanging shelves, or quick plumbing fixes, this kit has just about everything you need to tackle common household tasks without digging through a garage toolbox or borrowing from a neighbor. The convenience of having everything in one organized case is a huge plus. It’s compact, easy to store, and you can carry it anywhere in the house or even toss it in the car for a weekend project. Let’s be honest—the tools aren’t professional-grade. If you’re a contractor or mechanic, these won’t replace your top-shelf gear. But for regular home use? They’re more than up to the task. The construction feels solid, the grips are comfortable, and they’ve held up just fine through repeated use. If you’re setting up a new home, outfitting an apartment, or just want a reliable kit for life’s little fixes, this is a fantastic, affordable solution. I highly recommend it for homeowners, DIYers, college students, or anyone who wants to be a little more self-reliant around the house.

Best General Toolkit at Price Point!
I live in an apartment, and while I own a motorcycle and a car; I generally don’t have the space or need for many tools. However we all know how frustrating it is to need a tool and not have it. I was able to consolidate 3 other smaller toolkits and donate them by purchasing this 173 piece kit. The tools have a high quality index for the price point. I’ve not had any issue with them and a tape measure and level being included is a really nice change. The box isn’t larger and easily fits in between the top of my fridge and the cabinets above it. Making it convenient to store a large number of tools in a small space.
