Excellent game for a couple to play through
Are you a fan of hearts or other truck take games? Do you love The Lord of the Rings? This is the game for you. I've played a variety of trick taker games throughout my life. It started with hearts because my dad loves the game. I've never played a trick taker where you are working with the other players. This is a cooperative game played over multiple rounds. Each round takes you though the story of the Fellowship of the Ring. At the start of the round, you choose a character that fits with the story of that round. Those characters each have specific goals that you need to accomplish to complete the round. For example, Frodo needs to take four ring cards. On top of character goals, many chapters have a specific goal you need to accomplish as well. My wife and I are still making our way through the story, but we love sitting down for a few rounds at night to try and move on to the next chapters. I highly recommend this game!

Wonderfully great cooperative game
This is a seriously great game. It's simple to learn (if you know how to play other trick-taking games like Spades or Hearts, you're 90% of the way there). It's Cooperative, so everyone wins or loses together. Setup time is minimal. Space needed is minimal. You don't need knowledge of Lord of the Rings to enjoy it (though it would enhance your enjoyment). The game is strategic without taking a huge amount of time. The stained-glass style art is great. And most importantly, it's a huge amount of fun. I have a huge amount of board games and heartily recommend this to anyone who seems remotely interested. Also would make a good gift. (If you like this, check out The Crew, and The Gang as well) My only suggestion is to pick up some card sleeves on the side because it could see a lot of play and sleeves would protect it's value.

High quality, affordable. LOTR fans will appreciate!
There are so many LOTR themed games out there and I am so glad to have tried this one first! Got as a gift that he immediately wanted to play. Two of us have played the first four chapters so far (I think there are 18, then continued gameplay after you finish those). It would definitelyyy be better with 3-4 people, but still fun with just 2.Quick to setup and learn, esp if you are familiar with trick taking games. Good quality game pieces, easy to understand instruction booklet, really pretty art, thoughtfully incorporates the LOTR story instead of just adding LOTR characters onto an unrelated game. I was not expecting such a quality product at this price, since so many other LOTR games cost double. This makes a great, afforable gift for any Lord of the Rings fan!

A superb trick-taking card game...
The game is top-notch both in presentation, production, and actual gameplay. I brought the game to a 4-person gathering to run through it as a demo and we ended up playing it back-to-back for several hours, always wanting to push through one more scenario. The card art is a faux stained glass style and wooden components are very welcome over traditional cardboard counters. My only criticism is that it is a challenge to repack the cards into the small box if you have put the cards into thick protective sleeves. But it's possible.
