Good quality book and recipes.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. Great variety of recipes! I've made a waffle, pie, bread, and cookie recipe thus far. And, so far everyone has been delicious. It has great tips on doughs and icings. There are some fun historical aspects to the stories along with glancing at different regions of the south (from Appalachian Scottish descendants to a cajun demographic from Louisiana). I'm a Georgia born, NC raised, current Alabamian resident and I approve of all the recipes from all of these areas. It's a large hardback book with great pictures. Highly recommend it.

Love this cookbook! I bought this on a whim and after reading the reviews, and was blown away! I plan to purchase multiple copies and give as gifts during the holidays. Living in the south, this is perfect! Loved the stories offered behind the recipes, the pictures, and the layout! Not one negative thing to say, and I am a cookbook junkie! I made one of the recipes the day I received it (my meringue didn’t peak great, but so tasty!) get it!! You won’t regret it!

Great book to add to your repertoire
I really enjoy this cookbook. I have never had one that focuses on southern cooking specially baking. I find all the recipes easy to follow and they turn out delicious. Specially love the fact that there are recipes that call for sour milk. One of the ones I use is a chocolate cake recipe one of the most delicious delicate soft cake you will ever taste. Just make sure when you’re baking something chocolate to add coffee, even if the recipe does not call for it.

I haven't baked from this yet because I can't stand long in the kitchen (I'm working on that!), but it's a delight to page through the book, or open to any random page, and read the recipe along with the story behind it. You will find many stories about the places and people, usually mothers and grandmothers, who influenced the recipe. It will make you feel sentimental even without knowing them!
