Thank goodness for this knee walker!!! It got me out of bed!

I'm recovering from hand surgery, and I have pretty bad arthritis everywhere. I'm also facing a knee replacement this year. I tore both achilles tendons recently, but I can only do surgery on one foot at a time. The left foot was worse, so I did surgery on it first. Unfortunately, my right knee is the one that needs a replacement, and the right foot still needs the surgery. I discovered very quickly how difficult it is for me to use crutches. In fact, the crutches cause me severe pain. My hands are still weak following hand surgery, so all my weight is supported with my shoulders and my right foot when I use the crutches. I suspect that I've further damaged my right foot, and my shoulders can no longer take the pain. Crutches are just not meant for oIder, arthritic, unhealthy people! I was basically bed bound because of my foot surgery, so someone recommended that I get a knee walker. What a blessing the knee walker had been!!!! I can put a lot of weight on my left knee when I "walk," thus taking all the pressure off my shoulders and much of it off my right foot that's still waiting for surgery. Knee walkers are an amazing invention! I did a lot of reading before I purchased this one. There are a few important features that you want to have or want to avoid in a knee walker. Don't get one with wheels in the back that are too small, and avoid a knee walker that's too narrow. Otherwise, the walker is more likely to tip over. A padded knee rest is also good to have. Make sure the knee walked can adjust to your height. I'm 5'0" and this walker barely adjusts to my height. If I'm wearing a shoe, I'm fine. However, if I'm shoeless, my walking foot is tiptoeing. Being short, I often come across problems like this. This knee walker is heavy, but I can still manage to lift it into a car as long as I do it quickly. One important feature that I insisted on having is a basket. Not all knee walkers automatically come with a basket, unless you buy it separately. This walker has a good-sized basket. I can fit my purse in it when I'm off to the doctor's office, and it can hold many things when I'm wheeling around the house. I have a lot of tight spaces in my house, but the walker maneuvers around very easily. I like that the seat has a gap in the middle so that I can leave the walker still and turn my body sideways and comfortably rest my knee on the seat while brushing my teeth, reaching for something in the cabinets, etc. Although I haven't needed them much, the brakes seem to work fine. As for assembling the knee walker, I was actually able to do it by myself while sitting on my bed, but someone else had to bring the box up to my bedside and open it. No extra tools are needed to assemble the walker. Some of the closeup pictures in the instruction manual are difficult to understand, but if you look at a picture of the knee walker all put together, you can better understood what the close up pictures are referring to. For anyone in need of crutches, I strongly suggest a knee walker instead, and I highly recommend this specific knee walker!

Majorly Helpful and Well Made

I broke my foot about 10 days ago, and am in the infamous boot, 6 weeks. MRI tomorrow to see if ligaments are damaged and if so, then surgery. But totally hoping not. So this scooter..it's the one the foot orthopedic surgeon I saw recommended. She said I'd love the freedom and protection "zipping around, not worrying about my foot". When she mentioned pavement and sidewalks, I knew she had no clue I live in the country with red clay soil, mud, and every step rough terrain. Regardless, it is worthwhile to have in the house, even with an open floor plan I do alot of 3 point turns..lol. And pick it up in front to turn sometime. I love the basket! Got the wire. Love it came with a fairly comfy seat cover. Though I get a bruised feeling if I use it too long on my knee. Maybe it's because I have knobby knees. Whine whine..really it's so doable and mostly is my best friend right now. No major complaints but highly recommend getting this one if you need a scooter. Just an aside. We have 2 dogs, that are always way in my space and of course could care less I'm lame, so I'm forever telling them to move and also not make me stop fast, wreck, etc. One is 125lb German Shepherd, the other an almost yr old Golden retriever. Adorable, curious, and worried about mom. Not afraid of the scooter at all. I hope I've made it clear this scooter is well worth it and if you have an accident out of the blue like I did, go on and get one. The words "boot, breaks, weeks non weight bearing, and we'll just have to wait and see" are never good, so pull out your phone and order this. You wont regret it. The scooter itself is sturdy, well built and was easy to put together by my partner. He did it in no time. I never feel wobbly, but admittedly try to do too much, carry too much, etc. So sometimes I get off balance but not the scooters fault. I've had more near death experiences with my crutches, so I opt for the scooter. When going out I take the crutches and use the battery scooters where they have them( grocery store). Use crutches when I have to. I haven't taken my scooter out but would if I was going out more. I feel so bad for the reviewers that have really serious injuries. And am truly grateful I will heal. I am a fit 71 yr old very active woman and been a walker, hiker, since 19yrs old. I've appreciated my healthy legs forever and don't take for granted I'm so healthy . So don't think I'm whining when I say this scooter hasn't been a life saver that allows me to effortlessly do house chores and life things. But given I have to comply and want to.get well, it's a great thing to have and didn't break the bank. I appreciate my Dr recommending it so I wouldn't have to wade through so many out there, or spend wads of $$.

Well built, sturdy, and GREAT (indented) knee rest pad.

This knee scooter has been a god-send after breaking my ankle. By the second full day of using crutches I knew there had to be a less painful and more sturdy and stable way to get around so I ordered this scooter. It arrived 2 days later. It was a breeze to put together (you can YouTube an assembly video for your specific model or used the enclosed directions). I have been using this as my primary means of getting around for the last 8 days and it has made my life a whole lot easier and much less painful. Both the handlebar and the knee pad itself can be adjusted for height. The handlebars are comfortable and the brakes are easily accessible and easy to lock in place. The frame is very sturdy and there is a clamp at the base of the handlebars where you can quickly release the vertical bar and push it back towards the knee pad to make it smaller and easier to transport in or put in the trunk of the car. And I LOVE the knee pad as it has an indent to accommodate the leg (or booted leg) making it comfortable and secure. It has an additional indent going from bone side of the knee pad to the other side you can easily stand in front of a table, mirror, sink, etc. and equally distribute your weight between both legs for more normal alignment of the hips while doing tasks requiring standing. This unit is offered with either a bag or a wire mesh basket that can be attached to the front. I chose the wire basket for ease of access and cleaning and it is an absolutely Indispensable addition, allowing me to easily bring along, toiletries, clothes, etc. as I move from one task to the next. Only thing I find you have to careful about is when coming up to any raised thresholds, small pebbles, cracks, etc, remember to lightly lift the front wheels so they don’t catch. 100% recommend this unit! Still need crutches (for stairs or very tight spots) but this unit works great both inside and outside (parking lots, sidewalks, smooth paved trails and roads) and has been a game-changer for me!

Worth the money!

I wanted to have this rover for a lil bit before I reviewed it. In the 2 weeks I've owned this I have to say it's what I wanted/needed. The price was good and the build quality is pretty good for a "cheap" rover. I've spent a few days before this purchase to read reviews on quite a few of these things from the $99 item to the $300 items. And seems all the reviews on all these were very similar. Some were said to be very well built and no problems at all and others had frames snap in a few days & brakes fall apart within hours. I have to say that my rover showed up in just one day instead of the ETA of 2-3. Well done, BodyMed! Everything was well packed with no missing parts. All put together nicely. Now, since this is more of a budget rig, there were things that I checked and modified a lil. With all the nuts and bolts, I added nylon/plastic washers to them so the tighten everything up better. The brakes cables have a tendency to wonder and get stuck/pinched under the steering. So zip-ties are needed. Bar grips are hard and slippery so added grip puppies to those. And generally tightened EVERYTHING up to make sure nothing is loose. The seat for the knee , for me, wasn't bad but others said it was hard so I purchased a cheap garden pad and cut it to put under the cover. All in all I'm VERY HAPPY with this purchase. Just know, with all these Chinese rovers you're going to have to make sure everything is snug. Only other thing I'm adding is a cup/phone holder. I'll have this for about 12 weeks while my shattered ankle heals but I do know I'll be able to sell this for about the same price as I bought it for so that's a win too!
