Beautiful watch, great value for money, most generous service
I bought this watch, Citizen AW0096-06L, because it looks beautiful, its price is not too high and it has a solar energy source. The last feature means that I don’t have to think about batteries at least for the next 10 years or even more. I received it some 3 weeks ago. The watch indeed looks very nice and attractive, is very lightweight, and therefore is very comfortable on the wrist. I tried to measure its accuracy for over 10 days. It seems that the watch gains about 6.6 up to 7 sec during 30 days, which is a very good mark. The hands started to move virtually immediately after I unpacked the watch. There were no instructions in the box, so I watched some youtube videos about this watch before I started to set the time, date, and day of the week. I quickly adjusted the hands and date, but when I started to adjust the day of the week the day stuck somewhere halfway. I discovered the possible reason for that only the next day after I found instructions online but still was not sure that setting the date on my watch works fine. The instructions in this part are not clear and can be misleading. I contacted the seller, Mes International, and informed them about the problem. I live in Israel and Citizen does not provide a warranty in our country – another thing that I didn’t know and was very frustrating. I told the seller, Mes International, about this additional problem. His answer was - don’t worry, go to every lab or shop you want and I will cover all your expenses. I provide you with my warranty instead of Citizen. I believe that this is the most generous service the seller can provide. As to the problem with the day of the week, the instructions state the following: Avoid adjusting the calendar when the hands indicate the following times. The calendar may not be changed correctly. Date indication model: Approximately from 9 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Date/Day indication model: Approximately from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. The problem is that when you just received your watch you cannot know if the hands show the a.m. or p.m. time. If one tries to change the day of the week in the period from 9:00 to 04:30 it can be both of them. If you try to change the day from 09:00 p.m. to 04:30 a.m. as the watch WAS SET BY MANUFACTURER, the day will be stuck halfway even if the time of day in your place is 09:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. I think that the most convenient way to deal with this small problem is to change the day from 09:00 to 04:30. If the day is stuck rotate the hands 12 hours FORWARD and you will see the day changing correctly. From now on you have no problem and can follow instructions until the watch stops as a result of an empty or exhausted battery. If it happens do it again as on the first day when you received your watch.

So far, it's just what I wanted
I've only had this watch for a few days, so can only give a first impression. For background, I used Bulova Accutron watches for decades, replaced batteries myself, and was very happy with them. Unfortunately, both eventually stopped working and could no longer be repaired. I next acquired a quartz watch which I liked but found, when the battery died, I could not replace it myself, and the shop I took it to would NOT use a battery I had already purchased. They insisted on selling me another battery or would NOT replace the dead battery. This watch is powered by light that charges a permanently built-in battery eliminating the need to replace batteries. So far, it keeps good time and I like it very much. I did have a repair shop replace the band with one that had sentimental value from my last watch. If it continues to function successfully, it will be the best replacement I could have imagined.
