Very solid, hard working, quality machine!
Fabulous quality and consistent results with this reliable De'Longhi classic espresso machine. Honesty, this is a budget friendly (great price) entry machine, but don't let that deter you. This is a hard working. quality machine that is durable and will serve you really well. I have owned a no-name entry level espresso machine before and this is world's apart from that one. What I really like is the manual steam wand, which equals better micro-foam (once you learn it). It is truly, far more convenient than dealing with a milk carafe that you'll need to clean out its hoses after every usage. This can be quite a nuisance and why I mostly used my other machine, just for making espresso's and stopped using the milk container to make cappuccinos, unless I had more people/coffees to make. NOW with this steam wand, it is NOT an issue and super easy to foam/steam milk for one person or many (your choice). The wand is very adjustable and contorting to your needs. The size of this is unit fantastic and quite compact for an espresso machine. I measured the width (left to right) and it comes in ant only 8 inches wide (9” when including the knob and steam wand) and the height is exactly 12” tall. The length front to back is ONLY 10.5”and it weighs 9 pounds, making it perfect for most kitchen countertops. Also, it has a 57 oz removable water tank positioned behind the machine for easy refills. I really suggest an appliance slider as (for me) it is a must have when owning a machine like this and will make it a breeze to refill the water and bring the entire machine to you when making a brew. What I really like, when comparing with my other machine, is this one heats up so quickly and is really ready to brew with little downtime. It uses a thermoblock technology. The Thermoblock system is designed to reach the perfect temperature almost instantly for fast, consistent brewing. Overall, De'Longhi is a leader in espresso machines (with decades of experience) and they know what they are doing. You can spend 100's or 1,000's on a coffee machine, but you can also get a GREAT brew from a solid, basic espresso machine like this! If you want an Americano....just add the appropriate amount of hot water to your shot! With a good espresso machine, you can actually make quite a lot of specialty coffees and have fun while learning. Don't limit yourself to just an espresso or cappuccino!

Simple, Beginner-Friendly Espresso Machine
I was honestly a little nervous and stressed out about buying the De’Longhi EM400 since I’ve never made espresso at home before and knew nothing about it, but this turned out to be way easier than I expected. Put your mind at ease. Right out of the box, everything felt very straightforward. The instructions are clear, and I also watched a few videos on De’Longhi’s YouTube channel which helped a lot. The size is perfect if you don’t have much space. It’s compact and fits nicely without taking over the counter. The stainless steel finish gives it a clean, classic look that works in just about any kitchen. What I really like is how simple it is to use. You can customize single or double espresso shots, so once you find what you like, it’s basically a one-button process. It heats up super fast too, which makes a big difference when you just want your coffee and don’t want to wait around. It comes with everything you need, including the tamper and portafilter with options for single or double shots. It also has a drip tray you can remove for a latte glass which obviously is much taller than an espresso shot cup. So that is handy. The milk frother is another nice bonus. It works well with regular milk and alternatives, and it’s easy to get the hang of. I’ve already made a few cappuccinos and lattes at home without any trouble. One tip: run a few cycles of water through the machine before your first use, including the frother, just to make sure everything is clean and ready to go. Another plus is that you can descale the machine, and the instructions for that are just as easy to follow. It’s also very easy to clean in general, which makes it feel manageable for everyday use. If you’re new to making espresso like me, this is a great place to start. Just make sure you’re using good quality espresso beans or grounds, and you’ll get really solid results. I put this on my bakers stand along with a few other appliances to keep my countertops tidy. It fit perfectly. I am so happy.

What's Not to Love!!!
Oh my! I L O V E this De'Longhi Espresso Machine! I'm on my third latte today because they are just so easy to make, come out steaming hot and foamy and are just plain delicious. This machine did not take me long to learn at all though I did have some experience making espressos elsewhere. Even for a newbie, however, the instructions are pretty straightforward. This Espresso Maker has operated flawlessly for me, takes up minimal space on my countertop, and looks impressive. The pressure is excellent, resulting in a firm dry puck. Three things worth noting, though none are deal breakers: 1) The portafilter with it's plastic handle lacks the quality I'd expect from De'Longhi, 2) You get a plastic scoop/tamper, but not the durable, heavy, stainless steel tamper which provides even compression and better extraction, and 3) no milk frothing jug is included (I purchased one separately), pretty much an essential for making cappuccinos and lattes. Despite those shortcomings however, I'd recommend this machine in a heartbeat. If gifting, I'd include a milk frothing jug and a 20 oz. bag of Lavazza Espresso - a complete package for roughly $200. What a deal! Highly recommend! 5 Stars.

Works great
I’ve been using the De’Longhi EM400M Classic Espresso Machine for a few weeks now and I’m really happy with it. Solid 5 stars. It’s a fully manual machine, so you have to grind your beans, load the portafilter, and pull the shot yourself. It definitely takes more effort than a super-automatic espresso machine, but that’s exactly what I wanted. Once you dial in your grind and tamping, the espresso quality is excellent — rich, flavorful, and much better than what I was getting from cheaper machines. My first couple of tries resulted in mushy pucks, but after a little practice I got the hang of it and now it pulls consistent shots every time. The machine feels very reliable with its simple design and minimal moving parts. Cleanup is also quick and easy. It comes with a milk frother, but I haven’t used it much yet since I mostly drink straight espresso. The stainless steel build looks nice on the counter too. If you don’t mind putting in a little work for better coffee and want something that will last, this De’Longhi is a great choice for the cost. Highly recommend!
