Customer reviews

MASSIVE, tough tool set covers almost all tasks
If this review provides the info you need before buying, please consider marking it "Helpful", as that's very helpful for reviewers! EDIT 03/03/2022 - added a Con to the review. Still 5 stars though. Pros: - a huge number of tools, everything you need to work on cars! This includes your normal 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive sockets (regular and deep) and ratchets and a short AND long extension for each drive size, which is awesome! - Everything is HEAVY and tough. - The ratchets are super solid and feed really great in your hand as well. The ratchets do not have a release button, sockets just push on and pull off, but I haven't had any issues with sockets falling off. I would have to go freeze in my garage to see if there's a ball detent on them, but they stay on and that's all I care about. They have 72 teeth (which most quality ratchets start at nowadays), so not as fine control as Snap On's (ridiculously expensive) ratchets for example, but they feel like really good quality, with no free play. - includes a set of combination wrenches, and having bought an identical long 14mm wrench from Partsource in the past, I can tell you a single one of these wrenches retails for $10-15 EACH. - the case is HUGE. When the box arrived at my house, I thought "why did they put it in such a massive box?" It turns out the set is big, and incredibly heavy. I weighed it at 33.5 pounds. This says good things about the quality, but makes it a bit unwieldy to take to a junkyard to get parts for example. The latches are metal, 2 on the front and one on each side. The whole thing feels like it would survive an earthquake or explosion, but man is it heavy. - YES THE SOCKETS CLICK IN AND DO NOT FALL OUT. I replaced my previous Mastercraft Maximum socket set specifically because all the sockets fell out all the time which drove me insane. I'm not having that problem with this set, thank goodness. If they did fall out, I would have returned this set already. I literally gave my old one to a friend because it annoyed me so much. - DeWalt Mechanic's tools come with a FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY, fulfilled directly by DeWalt, just call the number given on their website and they will replace any included tool that breaks FOR ANY REASON. There are no limitations on this as far as I can see, so hammer the wrenches as much as you need to in order to break them rusty fasteners loose! - the price on this set (247 piece mechanic's tool set) is different right now, I imagine because all the stock in the Amazon warehouse is cleared out and it's only third party sellers. When I bought it, the set was $203 with Prime shipping, and I consider that an excellent price for what you're getting. I searched around at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. before purchasing, and this was the best deal anywhere locally or online. If this set comes around at this price again, I would 100% recommend it for anyone who is in the market for a complete set of hand tools. Cons: - there is no socket driver attachment for the ratchet, but the bits fit in the 1/4" SAE socket in case anyone finds themselves in the same situation I did. I would prefer there to be a dedicated receiver for the bits, but that does work.

<DEWALT 247PC SET> A DeWalt set that will last (not impact rated)
First of all, thanks DeWalt/Amazon for moving the impact drivers and power drills out of this grouping on Amazon so that it is not as confusing. All of the reviews now that mention the drills, however, are now not worth anything so the reviews are not off. Oh well. This DeWalt tool set seems to be well built, with quality pieces, unlike the Allen Wrench socket set that I had previously whose case fell apart and is currently being held together with duct tape. CONS: -The toolset is pretty heavy, but a general rule of thumb is that quality and weight usually run harmoniously with each-other, so this is not a big deal. -It does not have the attachment adapter for a drill or impact driver for the largest sockets, but it does come with an adaptor for the smaller two sizes. -They are not impact rated, but I think that they will hold up for a battery-powered impact driver (I use a Greenworks 24V impact driver, I will include a link for my review of this product from Amazon.) PROS: -It has a very good, solid, well-built case that should last a lot longer than our Allen Wrench socket set, whose case fell apart. The case is made with a premium composite plastic material that looks and feels durable. -The hinges and latches are well made and should last a long time. -All of the tools are made professionally and nothing seems like it was poorly engineered. -All of the sockets, wrenches, and ratchets are well built. -lifetime guarantee with free replacement which is a perk. Time will tell and I will update my review if something goes wrong, but these products work very well and I am not ashamed to have them in my toolbox. The Pros outweighted the Cons and the only way that I would not recommend this would be if you work repeatedly with high-powered air-powered impact guns. I would highly recommend this toolset to anyone who needs a solid set of wrenches and sockets for their garage or shop. Please like my review if it was helpful. Thanks! link from Amazon for 24V Greenworks Impact Driver which I use and think is a great bargain: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/review/R3E2K3RMA7NTSD?ref_=glimp_1rv_cl

It’s good and pretty complete
**Review: DEWALT Mechanic Tool Set, 247-Piece, 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. Drive, SAE, Ratchets, Sockets, Hex Keys, Combination Wrenches, Polish Chrome Finish** As a professional carpenter, I rely heavily on a wide range of tools for various tasks. The DEWALT Mechanic Tool Set, with its 247 pieces, has proven to be an invaluable addition to my toolkit. **Cons:** 1. **Tool Retention:** The primary drawback is that the tools tend to get loosened and fall from their place in the case. This can be frustrating, especially when transporting the set or moving it around the job site. A more secure grip or retention system would significantly enhance the overall experience. Despite the minor issue with tool retention, the DEWALT Mechanic Tool Set, 247-Piece, is an outstanding choice for anyone in need of a comprehensive and durable tool set. Its high-quality construction, versatility, and ergonomic design make it a valuable asset for professional carpenters and DIY enthusiasts alike. I highly recommend this set, with the hope that future iterations will improve the grip and retention of the tools in the case.

For a homeowner, it's a great set.
I live in illinois, but I winter in arizona. In 2024, get out to my R. V lot I need a couple of tools. I thought I had here but I didn't had to borrow tools from a neighbor. So I went on, Amazon picked out this set. Very happy with quality of the tools. Had to replace the battery in my jeep, which I keep at my son's house. He has a hodgepodge of tools, which made it difficult to get that battery out. Since it was just before Christmas, I ordered a set for him. He loves them. For homeowner, this is a great set.Every tool has a place in the tool case.As long as you put everything back, you won't lose it. And everything is easy to find. Also dwelt has a great guarantee.
