Customer reviews

Upgraded from Osmo Mobile 6 to 8 - Game changer!
After testing the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 extensively over the past month for both vlogging and product content creation, I can confidently say this is the best smartphone gimbal available right now. The combination of rock-solid stabilization, intelligent tracking that actually works, and seamless native app integration makes this an essential tool for anyone serious about mobile content creation. Top Highlights: 1. Apple DockKit Support = Revolutionary Tracking For iPhone users, this is massive. The gimbal now tracks subjects using Apple's native technology, which means tracking works in the iPhone camera app, Blackmagic Camera, Instagram, and 200+ other apps—not just DJI's Mimo app. The tracking is incredibly accurate and keeps you centered even when you move around. You can finally create professional-looking content without being locked into one ecosystem. 2. True 360° Pan Rotation Unlike predecessors that would hit mechanical limits, the OM8 offers unrestricted horizontal rotation. This enables smooth panoramic sweeps and continuous follow shots that were previously impossible. Perfect for dynamic product showcases or spinning reveal shots. 3. Multifunctional Module is Brilliant This small magnetic attachment is where the magic happens: built-in AI tracking sensor that recognizes people AND pets (finally!), adjustable fill light (40 lux, 2500K-6000K color temp), and wireless audio support for DJI Mic 2/3/Mini. Gesture controls work flawlessly—palm to start/stop tracking, V-sign to capture. It's like having a camera operator following you around. 4. Build Quality & Ergonomics At 370g with everything attached, it's perfectly balanced. The magnetic phone clamp is incredibly secure (supports phones up to 3.3" wide), the built-in extension rod adds 8.5" reach for better framing, and the integrated tripod legs actually feel sturdy. The analog joystick provides smooth, precise control—far superior to digital alternatives. 5. Exceptional Stabilization The 3-axis stabilization is buttery smooth even when jogging or shooting from moving vehicles. Combined with the improved ActiveTrack 7.0, your footage looks genuinely cinematic without any post-processing stabilization needed. What Could Be Better: 1. Battery Life With Features Active While rated at 10 hours basic use, expect 5 hours with intelligent tracking enabled and only 4 hours with the fill light at max brightness. Not terrible, but you'll want a power bank for all-day shoots. The USB-C charging (2.5 hours full charge) helps, and you can power it via power bank while filming. 2. App Dependency for Advanced Features While basic tracking works natively, unlocking the full feature set (SpinShot mode, hyperlapses, advanced gimbal modes, shot guides) requires the DJI Mimo app. The app is excellent, but Android users especially need to be aware they won't get the same Quick Launch experience that iPhone users enjoy with DockKit. Bottom Line: This gimbal has completely transformed my mobile content workflow. The ability to track subjects in any app, combined with professional-grade stabilization and that incredibly useful multifunctional module, makes this feel less like a gadget and more like legitimate filmmaking equipment.

Professional‑Level Stabilization and Tracking—Perfect for Travel and Everyday Use
I’m extremely impressed with the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 Advanced Tracking Combo Gimbal Stabilizer—it has quickly become one of my favorite tech accessories. From the moment I started using it, the difference in video quality and stability was obvious. The gimbal does an excellent job of keeping footage smooth and steady, even when I’m walking or moving around. One feature I particularly appreciate is the advanced subject tracking. Whether I’m filming a person or an object, the gimbal locks on precisely and follows the subject seamlessly. This has elevated the quality of my videos significantly and makes it feel like I have a professional‑level setup in my pocket. I’m planning to take this on my cruise ship trip, and I already know it’s going to be perfect for capturing all the best moments—sunsets on deck, excursions, and candid travel footage without the shaky camera. The compact design and comfortable grip make it easy to use for extended periods, and the app integration with my phone is intuitive and responsive. Another aspect I love is how useful it is even for everyday use—especially for FaceTime calls. It keeps my phone steady and centered, which makes video chats look much better and more stable than just holding a phone by hand. Friends and family have already commented on how clear and smooth the video looks. Battery life has been solid so far, and the combo includes thoughtful accessories that make it easier to get the most out of the device without needing extra purchases. Build quality feels premium—lightweight yet durable, and it’s obvious this was built with real users in mind. Overall, the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 is fantastic for travel, everyday vlogging, FaceTime calls, and all kinds of recording scenarios. Whether you’re a content creator or just someone who wants better video from your phone, this gimbal is worth it. I’m excited to take it on many more adventures!

Big Upgrade from My Osmo 6
Bought this to upgrade my Osmo Mobile 6 looking for more functionality with the AI tracking and the multifunction module and I’m going to say I’m happy I did. There is only 1 downgrade from the 6 to the 8 and that is the legs. The 6 offered screwed on tripod which is significantly larger than the 8’s fold out legs and thus, more stable. The trade off is storing the 8’s tripod is much easier since you just fold them into the unit so there is that. Personally, I prefer the larger tripod. Functionally, the 8 is a far superior beast. The multifunctional module is great. The tracking is spot on and the light is fantastic with brightness adjustment making for a decent little light to get those shots in the dark. Another BIG benefit is how the 8 folds when not in use. The 6 folds with the phone bracket pressed against the unit not allowing for it to be stored with the bracket on the gimbal. This has led to times where I grabbed the gimbal without the bracket attached or when I actually lost the bracket while on vacation. The 8 stores with the bracket angled away from the unit so you don’t have to disconnect the bracket to store it. The best thing for me though is the 360 degree rotation. What a great feature. Many times while shooting in an open room I’ve had to walk off camera and explain what was going on offscreen or grab the gimbal and adjust the angle continuously to keep me in frame leading to some pretty lousy shots and more time editing. In addition, the adjustment of the head angle also makes for many low angle shots that just aren’t possible on the 6. The stability seems to be the same which for me is great because my 6 has always been extremely smooth and is the reason I didn’t opt for another brand. Overall the redesign is phenomenal and I can’t recommend this unit enough. I’m looking forward to seeing what else this little beast can do.

Quality Product and ease of use.
This is my first Phone/Camera Gimbal and I have to say it has made a huge difference in my photos and films, I was able to film and track my Golden playing and running in the backyard with ease. I am disabled and have a serious hard time holding anything stable without twitching and shaking, I was also able to place it on its tripod base (which is how I think I will use it most) and go out and film myself with my dog. That was totally worth the price of admission and may lead to a larger Gimbal for my main camera gear so I can do better work with Pro gear which weighs a lot more. The clamping system fits just fine on my IPhone Pro Max 17 WITH a Supcase kickstand Unicorn Beetle Camera control cover phone case, that I feel adds more size to the width of the phone but seems to work just fine. Also commenting on being able to handle the weight, it does just fine. No stuttering, pausing, heating up, or resetting of the whole Gimbal. I have yet to utilize the microphone recording system but I’m sure it will do ok. As for the DJI Mimo app, it also works great and has good tutorials and use case scenarios, I still have more to study in that app to familiarize myself with it. All in all I am extremely impressed and happy with my purchase, DJI has done a great job with this equipment and seems to be a powerhouse in this field of gear, everything that I have bought made by DJI has been great.
