Great weather platform with some disappointing limitations
I'm giving Ecowitt 4 stars overall because the gear is very high quality for the price point and works very well out of the box. Set up was mostly simple and intuitive. Sensors pair pretty seamlessly and report well. The software is good with options for local only or cloud-based reporting, as well as easy integration with services like Weather Underground. Limitations I've been frustrated with: 1) Although you can have a separate rain sensor or temp sensor in conjunction with the all in one station, you cannot use an additional wind gauge. This means that if you don't have one location that is optimal for light and wind, you are stuck. I had hoped to get one of the separate anemometers and put it where wind is not obstructed while leaving the WS90 where it is more exposed to sunlight, but Ecowitt won't let you choose another source of Wind data unless you have a separate gateway. Similarly, if I located the WS90 in the optimal location for wind, I have no way to get sunlight/UV data separately. They need to allow choosing the preferred source for all data (not just rain and temp), and they need to add a separate light/UV sensor. 2) The consoles with LED displays are overpriced (partly because they are also gateways) 3) You cannot use one of the more advanced gateways with a separate display. All of their displays are intended to be used as a gateway as well. It's rather surprising that they don't offer a display without the gateway capability that can link to their other gateways. Alternatively they could allow using another vendor's displays. 4) The light sensor built into their units is a light level sensor. It does not measure solar radiation or UV - but uses a simple conversion factor to estimate both of those. It would be great if they offered those sensors. Overall I'm still an Ecowitt fan but I'd love to see them address these limitations. Update 9/5/2025- I'm raising this to 5 stars for two reasons: Customer service has been extraordinary. I've had two sensors with issues that were replaced with no hassle and 2) Number 3 above may be wrong. I was told by their customer service that you CAN use a display along with another gateway. They're still very expensive but it's good to know you can use them even if you have a gateway like the GW3000.

This system sets up very quickly, and the 915MHz radio has substantial range and ability to penetrate walls. I find my readings on Weather Underground to be aligned with those around me, so it seems to be quite accurate. I like the fact that it's got battery backup for rainy days, and that all the sensors use common AA batteries. The base unit has a great deal of expandability for additional sensors, almost ridiculously so, and adding the sensors literally couldn't be any easier. The only annoyance I found was the relative scarcity of 1" mounting options, and I ended up printing an adapter, though I hear that a chain link fence top rail will work easily. We're in the dry season here, so I can't comment on the rain gauge, but in all other respects, overall, seems like a great unit at a very reasonable price.

Very good product that is a breeze to set up.
Seems quite accurate. Setup of the hub and attached devices was the easiest of any smart device I've ever installed - it just worked on powerup. It's a great device. I have not had a chance to check its rain gauge capabilities. I was able to integrate this system into my Hubitat hub so that it displays with all my other smart home devices.

good value, running for 2 months so far.
Been running this for a couple of months. Love the simplicity of the hardware. I purchased the AC cord from the manufacturer, it is not needed in my So Cal moderate climate. Currently connected to Weather Underground, and Weather Cloud with no issues.
