easy, smooth, slick - love it!
Honest take on the WineWhiz (a.k.a. my favorite new toy). SO, I like wine. I’m not a sommelier or anything, but I do know that opening a bottle of red after a long day shouldn't be hard work. That’s why I picked up the WineWhiz Electric Wine Aerator & Opener Set, and seriously - where has this thing been all my life! The foil cutter is simple and works really well - no more hacking at the top of the bottle like a monkey peeling an orange with a dull blade - just nice and easy. The electric bottle opener, now this thing is smooth baby! Never been a fan of the whole process with the traditional opener - gripping, twisting, pulling - I have carpal tunnel and getting a good strong grip can sometimes be painful (probably great for people with arthritis or older people). The WineWhiz is just effortless. Set the wine opener on top of the bottle, press the button, and and you're off to the races. No twisting, no straining, no weird elbow angles. It does the work for you like a friggin "Open Sesame" wine-opening wizard. The wine opener and aerator are made of stainless steel, they feel solid, sturdy, I've been using them for a few months months now, opened plenty of bottles and no issues - I think they'll work for a good long time. The electric wine aerator and dispenser is the most fun part of the set. the wine pourer looks super sleek, could be from a sci-fi movie, would go very well with a Star Trek replicator :) and it this thing gets people talking. I start opening a bottle when we have people over and they all go “Holy cow what is that thing!?!” like it's something from the future and they all want to try it and pour wine and open one more bottle. Don't underestimate the benefit of aeration either. Aerating white wines might not make a huge difference, they’re generally fine straight from the bottle, but with reds it’s a total game changer. We did a blind taste test with some friends - same wine, one glass poured straight, the other using the wine aerator - there's no doubt to anyone the aerated wine as smoother, richer, and more aromatic. Vacuum sealer is perfect for those “I’ll just have one glass” nights. Fine, so that turns into two glasses then 3, then 6 - don't judge :) but in the end, you know you can leave a half bottle for another time and it won't be stale, tepid oxidated wine - the wine will taste just like it's from a fresh bottle. Final thoughts (pours another glass, sips, exhales satisfied). Yeah, I’m a fan. My new gadget makes wine easy, fun, slick, and delicious.
