I was ready to have a robot clean my house once again. Many years ago I had a 1 or 2 gen of roomba. With so many robot vacuums available I was ready to try this newer technology. I did overall enjoy the roomba and used it till one of the treads on the wheels was chewed by my cat. Those original roombas were glorified sweepers without suction and had zero intelligence mapping/cleaning a room. No wifi/apps/scheduling back then and certainly couldn't return to base. First impressions: Set-up was very easy. Connecting to wifi in the app with enabling the skill on Alexa were a breeze. Cleaning pattern is random but my floors looked clean after completing full cycles. Picked up a satisfying amount of hair and dust. I don't like having to create my own barriers to prevent it from entering areas. 15c model does not come with boundary strips. Day 1: Right out of the box we had a quick set up and attempted our first cleaning. Set up was very easy with the app and quickstart guide. I put RoboVac to work and it did an okay but not exceptional cleaning. I limited it to our tv/family room and kitchen that gets the most dirty for our test runs. In this area it is entirely hardwood floors with 1 low pile rug and two cushion kitchen mats. Next I charged RoboVac up put it to work again and this cleaning was much better but found a it constantly in one corner of my kitchen. I played around a bit telling RoboVac to start, pause etc after enabling the RoboVac skill on Alexa which was very fun but more of a novelty for me. After the partial and full cleanings my floors looked really nice. The dirt cup was easy to empty and was about full from my floors that really needed a vac. I set up my schedule to clean nightly while we slept. Day 2: First night of scheduling RoboVac. I woke up to RoboVac being trapped under a corner of my couch where it discovered a cord and flat laundry basket I didn't know was under there. I charged Robo up and then set it to work in my Living room/formal dining area only since it didn't finish the job. With our fake Christmas tree and some fake snow decor the floors were dirtier than normal for these seldom used rooms. Those fake pine needles are super hard to get every last one! The pattern of cleaning is random but after some time the floors were looking good and I didn't notice any remaining particles on the floor. It navigated well around my chairs, coffee tables and under my couches although totally random which way it went. Day 3: RoboVac had a great night cleaning! Made it back to base unassisted and I woke up to fresh floors. I have been putting up my stools and chairs so it can clean under them overnight especially since that is where we have the most crumbs. I also keep our two dogs blocked off in an area with a gate overnight. This way Robo can clean and there is no doggy mess risk as well as keeping them happy and safe. I have a Pomeranian and shih tzu that are curious but mostly scared. It made it's way under another couch last night and found a treasure trove of dirt. Some dirt around our door was picked up successfully. Week 2: Overall I am super happy with this purchase. Being able to schedule a nightly vac and wakeup to clean floors has been completely worth it for the price. Almost every day RoboVac has made it back to base. I do make some adjustments like picking up my stools/chairs and setting them on the counter/table before bed. I really want those fallen crumbs where eating is happening to be picked up. I do make sure the area is clear from potential hazzards as well. I put my power strip in a basket to keep the cords tidy and it also looks better anyhow. I limit RoboVac to only in my kitchen with adjoining dining room and family/tv room. This is the only area that gets dirty daily and also where my doggos hang out. Since my model (15c) does not support boundary strips I have been using hand weights in one open door way to block. In my other open doorway I have a pet gate which also keeps the doggos safe for the nightly clean. I've been emptying the dust cup every few days or so which has been quite satisfying. My rug in my TV/Family room is just enough to prevent it from going under my couches in most places. The couple of times it did not make it to base was because it got under the couch but then trying to exit it gets stuck partway when it hits the rug on the way out (included picture). It has been the same place twice so I put a hand weight around there to stop it going under and getting stuck which so far has been successful. I'm going to continue thinking of ways to "robo proof" my area so it continues to be a set and forget. So far hand weights have been super helpful which I just happened to have on hand. For a strip of area a rolled yoga mat also works (so long as it's pushed up against something so it doesn't unroll). I would have bought the model with boundary strips rather than dot bundle doing it over again since it would have been helpful. Even though the cleaning is random on this model I have been very pleased with the cleaning. My rug looks fresh daily and it seems to keep my kitchen floor & dining area free from crumbs. After 1 year update: We have had this guy 1 year! I would not go back to life without it. There are times it finds a cord or sock and gets stuck but as we "roboproofed" our room nearly all the time it would make it back to base. I liked coming down to the fresh floors every morning. Just recently it started giving an error code that the brush isn't spinning. I cleaned it thoroughly and still it is beeping and giving the error code. The brush is spinning and it is still cleaning nightly so not sure what else to do. I suppose I will let it run until it gives out. Maybe that is what separates the cheaper ones from more expensive...not sure.

New robovac user -- pleasantly surprised.

Initial one-week-in review. Will update if anything changes. The Eufy 15C is my first go-round with robovacs. I did quite a bit of research and wanted to strike a balance between functionality and budget. My goal was to cut out some sort of chore as much as possible in an effort to free up time, as our young family seems to have a schedule requiring only the most adept acrobatics to even have a slim hope of accommodating. We vacuum on a borderline constant basis due to pets in the house, children who like to destroy things and create messes, as well as me simply being allergic to nearly everything in existence. The Eufy works on a somewhat random pattern. When I fired the gizmo up at first I found myself sitting there simply watching it and feeling rather convinced it wouldn't be able to cover a whole room due to the random stab at directions it was taking. It ultimately covered all tracks and I found myself growing more "trusting" of it getting the job done. This was helped by me staging some crushed cheerios in different piles around the kitchen and letting it run unattended. When I returned a bit later, it was still doing laps and all of the cheerio piles were done. Fancy. We don't have many carpeted areas in the house (just the two upstairs bedrooms), but I let it run in those rooms unattended. When I returned the vacuum patterns were random and all over the place, but covered the entire span of the rooms. Given how much time had elapsed since I left the vacuum I didn't expect it to be done already -- it was still running but it was clear via the carpet patterns that it had hit every area during its pass. Good stuff. I was hesitant to go the "C" route with it being wifi-connected as (tin foil hat moment) I work in IT and question devices connecting to my wifi that arguably may not need to be. I found the app to be easy to set up and opted for a consistent schedule to kick things off. So far, so good. I've been keeping an eye on my DNS server logs as well and to date I haven't seen any suspicious behavior of the Eufy (truth be told I haven't seen any traffic at all outside of the initial login of my Eufy account), which was nice to see as I was expecting to firewall the thing into oblivion, but it seems to be largely unnecessary so far. Some other models I looked at were controlled exclusively by smart phones alone. This 15C comes with a remote on top of the smart phone capability. I find the remote is a nice added touch as there are times I have my phone elsewhere charging and I want to kick off a vacuum session outside of the scope of the set schedule, so it's nice being able to punch a button on the remote and let it rip. Another area this comes in handy is if someone is at my house watching my kids (in-laws for example) and a mess needs cleaned up. Whoops, owners not home, smart phones not home, thus no way to control it -- enter remote. They really should be standard on all robovacs as I consider it downright foolish to not include a simple remote, but it was nice seeing the Eufy came with it despite the smart phone capability being existent as well. Overall the thing does a good job and it's great not having to run the bigger vacuum on a constant basis. It runs on a schedule and does its job. It's much quieter than I expected. Not "run at 3 am" quiet for fear of waking up the kiddos, but still quieter than I expected. In terms of the actual vacuuming performance, I'd say it's pretty darn good. As I said we're running this on a daily basis. Now, please understand we're not running through the woods and tracking in an obscene amount of dirt intentionally, nor are we brushing shaggy pets prone to heavy shedding in the middle of the living room every hour, but I've made it a point to empty the dust bin from the Eufy at some point every day so it's ready to go for the next scheduled run. Every single time I empty it, it's nearly full. I have no idea where this thing is finding all this dirt, but it's a testament to the vacuuming capability of the unit itself. From now on it appears our former vacuum will be downgraded to be for steps only. Downsides? Eh, if anything, the need to empty the bin on a pretty consistent basis. It comes with the territory though as these devices are inherently smaller than the large canister vacuums. Nothing that can be done about that so it's difficult to really ding the robovac in this category, but it's something worth mentioning and be aware of. Beyond that I can't find any complaints to note. It does its job and does it well. P.S. - Having a robot vacuum may or may not instigate a cleaner house beyond the scope of simply vacuuming. We told our kids toys need to be cleaned up or the vacuum will "get their toys" in the morning (9 AM schedule) and it's prompted a pretty swift cleanup job every night before bed. It takes far less arguing than it did in the past, and that, I'm pretty okay with. :)

So effing polite!!!

It's kinda crazy how much I love this little guy!!! He's truly not the brightest bulb, but that never stops him from doing his job! I swear he will vacuum every last thing in our house or die trying! I just hope he knows he's truly loved for his tenacity and spunk! Surprisingly, on top of that, he is also the MOST polite robot vacuum I've ever encountered. He stops just short of hitting most items and will give everything else just the gentlest of nudges. Whoever designed his leg turns... pure genius. I love watching him make tight turns around absolutely any and every furniture leg in the house as well as every edge of wall and outside corners (no inside corners, but so forgivable bc those are the only areas he misses!) His brushes work crazy well at moving all dirt, dust, and crumbs into his path and his tummy brush does the rest. Speaking of which, whoever designed that little cleaning brush that comes with him, again, pure genius. I can clean every single part of him with that and get all the long tangled hairs out of places that usually make me cry on other vacuums. He's already a month old and still in super clean, great shape bc of that brush! And that's another thing - I just think the designers of this machine were on top of their game with thoughtfulness. The additional brushes and zip ties and that cleaning brush/comb thing. SO thoughtful and SO appreciated! The ease of cleaning this vacuum is commendable and they should truly be awarded. After using it a few times a week for a month now I have decided it's best if I'm around when he's running around but only bc of his tenacity. He will get stuck in places that he shouldn't really fit because he's so determined - but I truly don't see that as a con, but more as an awesome perk. He's also made it home every time all by himself to get charged, just don't watch him as he goes cause it'll test your patience for sure! And last, I thought maybe there was something wrong with him right out of the box bc he kept "turning off" and wanting to go home way before he was out of battery, but as I kept watching him sometimes do this and other times do just fine, it finally dawned on me that he was doing it in the same area of my kitchen where I have a black and white rug! He would just get freaked out by it! LOL poor little guy! Sincerely, Thank you so much Eufy! I am a big fan of my new housecleaning helper "Tank!" Pros: Will not run into stuff! So good at sensing and when it doesn't know something is gonna be in its way it will still only nudge it. Wonderfully quiet. Just loud enough to know he is working, but not so loud that he's distracting. Super easy to clean, comes with the most ingenious cleaning tool and the dirt bin and wheels very easy to clean. Edging capability is out of this world. Will go along the edges of your entire house. Short height allows for him to get under a lot of furniture. It will not go under a bed with a skirt or under curtains that reach the floor. The most graceful leg turns - he will dance around your dining table and chairs with ease. Cons: Not at all a fair complaint bc Eufy does sell mapping vacuums, but thought I'd mention it so people don't buy this version if they want mapping capabilities. Doesn't like white baseboards. It will steer clear of any white baseboard (will stay roughly 5-6" away from them) unless you tell it to go edging and even then it can be shy about getting close to them. Not great on all carpets - it doesn't do flat carpets very well. My front entry mat always has lint left on it after its been vacuumed - it picks up the dirt, but leaves a lot of carpet lint that's sitting on the main brush. TBH I racked my brain just now to think of those.... not worth not buying it for those three cons!!! I'm hopeful that it'll have a good long life with us!

Impressive!

I'm a researching guy when it comes to buying bigger-ticket items. When I decided to get my family a robot vacuum, I spent hours digging through all the reviews and details so that I could find a robot vacuum that mixed function with budget. Originally, I settled on a Tesvor vacuum. It had thousands of great reviews (in hindsight, they could have been suspect). We were initially happy with the purchase. It vacuumed okay, but the navigation was so-so. We already expected this vacuum to just be a daily driver, not a deep cleaner, so we were fine with the lower suction. It got the main stuff. But it got lost and stuck constantly, even stuck in patterns that had no obstacles blocking it, and it would stop and return to the base at, like, 55% battery. So we packed it up, shipped it back to Amazon, and went back to the drawing board. I decided on a Eufy vacuum, and found this one on an Amazon Warehouse deal at a huge discount. Boy, am I happy I did! We set it up to run at midnight every night, and we woke up this morning to a "clogged brush" notification on our phones. Annoyed, but also appreciated the app notification. Turns out, the strings of one of our son's toys was barely hanging off its shelf and on the floor, and this thing sucked it up and dragged it across the house. We took this as a good sign. After pulling the string out and recharging it, we ran it for full this morning. I was impressed. It's very quiet for a robot vacuum. The navigation is random, but it moves so quickly that it doesn't bother you - the machine will come back around eventually and catch the spots it missed. It covered our whole main level many times, including kitchen, living room, play room, bathroom, and back hallway. It never got stuck or confused for very long, even when it squeezed behind my recliner. By the time it returned to its base (and it actually used up its battery power instead of returning early), the dirt behind the back door was gone, the crumbs under our kitchen island were gone, and the carpet looked great (one single fuzzy piece was left behind, which was fine). As it charged, I pulled out the dirt tray to see how well it did, and I let out a "WHOA" when I opened it. Check out that picture! This is a house that has been pet-free for weeks, with a good Shark upright vacuum that has been used once or twice a week, and a wife that values cleanliness so she deep cleans regularly. I was super impressed with how much dirt it pulled out! To me, the difference is the presence of a roller brush on the suction side. The Tesvor didn't have that, and they are both advertised at similar suction power. The roller makes a big difference. If I had paid full price for this, it wouldn't have been a waste at all. This is a great vacuum at a very reasonable price. Since I scored the Warehouse deal, this is a no-brainer. We're keeping this one, for sure.
