Description
From the award-winning author of Shelter Dogs and Rescue Cats, this beautiful animal photography book introduces a new collection of dogs and the heart-grabbing stories of transition to their forever homes. Bold, retiring, serious, sparkling, quirky, or lovable—the dogs in Traer Scott's remarkable photographs regard us with humor, dignity, and an abundance of feeling. Scott began photographing dogs in 2005 as a volunteer at animal shelters. Her first book, Shelter Dogs, was a runaway success and, in this follow-up, she introduces another collection of canine subjects, each with indomitable character and spirit: Morrissey, a pit bull who suffered from anxiety-related behaviors brought on by shelter life until adopted by a family with four children. Chloe, a young chocolate Lab mix, surrendered to a shelter by a family with allergies. Gabriel and Cody, retired racing greyhounds. Bingley, a dog who lost his hearing during a drug bust but was brought home by a loving family that has risen to the challenge of living with a deaf dog. Through extended features and arresting portraits, we become better acquainted with the personalities and life stories of these courageous animals and watch as they experience the sometimes rocky and always emotional transition to new homes. For dog lovers, photography enthusiasts, and advocates for animal welfare and pet rescue, Finding Home is a poignant and eloquent reminder of the urgent need for more adoptive families as well as a loving tribute to dogs everywhere.

Unusual and profoundly moving
This is an intelligent, startlingly conceived book that was very different from what I feared. The author’s sensitivity and interest in the stories of the dogs she presents creates a light, charming yet deeply interesting atmosphere for the reader, who may have expected to feel only heartbreak and sorrow. No, somehow the author’s kindness and creativity arouse our courage so that we can enter the dogs’ lives wholeheartedly without worrying about what we might suffer. This author has a true talent for loving animals. Her intelligence and passionate interest sparkle like a precious stone, fascinating the reader, who is helped to relate to the animals almost as a peer. This is a gifted and inspired writer of unusual courage. The book appears to be short and simple, but no, it is a clever, tough minded instrument that gives us the guts to join the remarkable movement to abolish the suffering of the innocent dogs we need to love. Marjorie Luckey, the author, is to my mind, the Mother Theresa of animals that are our moral peers. It is people like her who will inspire others to save the terrible, tormented world.

A Great Gift For The Dog Lover
A beautiful and heartwarming book full of inspirational photos and stories. A Christmas gift recipient of mine requested I make a donation to an animal shelter this year which I did in their behalf. The shelter sent her a thank you and a package of materials of their work and as a companion I added this book for their total Christmas gift to her which I think she will overwelmed with joy for.

Good but warning - a lot of the stories the dogs are euthanized
I think it’s good overall. I wish it was longer, but it’s also not super expensive. I wish it maybe told stories of where the dogs are now, not just what happened at the shelter. Also, a lot of the stories the dogs get aggressive being in shelter and get euthanized, kinda depressing but it’s real.

Emotivo
