Our cuddly toddler’s perfect sleep buddy

My toddler has autism & separation anxiety and is unable to sleep unless he’s holding on to one of us. We would let him hold onto us until he fell asleep then leave but he would wake up later and become anxious and upset that he was alone. A friend recommended that we get a weighted blanket but he always gets super hot so easily. I found this online while I was looking for other alternatives and I am so grateful that I did! When I took it out of the box, I was a little disappointed with how floppy it seemed, and when my son initially tried it, he ended up either rolling it off of him or pushing it to the side because there wasn’t anything to hold on to and the weights were distributed to lay over him it seemed rather than against him. So what I did: I bought a bag of polyfill and I stuffed the puppy just as if it were one of his plushies. He immediately loved the “improved” version, hugged it, named it and it’s been his sleeping buddy ever since 😊.We are so happy that this solved our problem and highly recommend the “stuffed version” to everyone with similar difficulties. Note: once you stuff your Friendly Cuddle, it will no longer fit into the included travel bag. We bought soft insulated (so that “he won’t get too hot or too cold while he’s in the bag”) tote with handles for when we travel and it’s been such a blessing to have. Easy to wash, just carefully follow instructions and we gently remove the polyfill so that it can be reshaped back in again (polyfill is affordable enough that we can simply replace it if necessary). I was wondering if adding a bag of lavender inside would help more, but haven’t tested it yet.

I ordered a Lily dog for my 8-year old girl who has sensory challenges, adhd, and more. This weighted friend is amazing! It helps her calm her body on her own, and feel where her body is in space. She is homeschooled, so it helps her maintain focus for lessons. I also use it to lay on her body to help her get to sleep. I looked at compression sheets and weighted blankets, but decided to go with the dog because we travel often, and the dog is small and easily portable. She has showed the dog off to her OT, Speech therapist, and behavioral specialist - she sometimes takes the dog to her appointments - and they all have raved over it and say will recommend it as an option to their clients. I love it too! It's so cozy and comforting. It feels like one of my cats laying in my lap. Thanks for a really great product!

The worst thing about this item is that I can't stop petting it. I love the heavy weight of this item and the fur is soft and snuggly. The ears, in particular, are compelling to rub. My only complaint (aside from feeling the need to constantly have this dog on my lap) is that while the weight is distributed into sections throughout the blanket, the heaviest parts are the legs/feet. Couple that with the difficulty to get the insert out to go in the microwave, I may end up adding a separate insert to go just in the middle that can be easily microwaved for warmth. When warmed up, it does heat up well. The color and design are exactly as expected. I do love how the functionality of the lap blanket means it can hang out pretty much anywhere (on my shoulder right now). I am definitely pleased with this purchase.
