Automatic metering of the water makes the perfect tasting espresso every single time!
I upgraded espresso machines. Bought the old Gevi model exactly 2 years ago โ at $99 it paid for itself hundreds of times over because I figure I made about 1400 to 2000 espressos with the machine versus two bucks apiece for Starbucks double shot cans. I'm a Mechanical Engineer who is very picky/critical about all the products I buy...especially things I use constantly. I have shockingly discovered a company thatโs working on making improvements on their products! This new version of the espresso machine is about 2/3 the size, less plastic and more stainless so style wise much better to start with. The model you had to manually read the temperature dial and manually turned the pump on and off for as much water as you wanted to be pumped through the coffee. This new model has single shot and double shot automatically metered out with a touch button on the top. The very first espresso out of the new machine was exponentially better than the mix I normally do by manually pumping! They even made improvements in the plastic spoon you scoop up the coffee and pound it in with changing the diameter of the plunger slightly larger and putting a drip hole in the handle -- this keeps coffee from getting pushed out and around the plunger when tamping like with the previous design. Just tiny improvements, but someone is actually paying attention! Iโm just amazed to see a company actually making improvements in their design designs. Most importantly, Iโve been finding myself infuriated with companies putting paper glued labels onto plastic or metal, which makes them a nightmare to takeoff, and then leaves glue residue behind that you have to scrub off. Every single tag on this machine and the tape they used to hold on the water canister and drip plate was held on with vinyl stickers or vinyl tape that peels off cleanly and intact in whole. Iโm just shocked to find a company doing things right!

Great first espresso maker for beginners!
I have had this espresso machine for over a month now and have been using it daily! It is amazing for a small at home coffee bar and makes great espressos. The steamer wand takes about 2 minutes to get the milk to 165 F degrees which it is what it is. It's very easy to clean, no assembly of the machine all you have to do is put on the espresso puck / handle. It's also very easy to use, you don't have to program anything you just hit one of the four buttons on top. The manual is descriptive and if it displays a red error on one of the buttons, the manual tells you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. Holds a good amount of water I have to refill it maybe twice a week. The only thing that I guess would like to be different or better is not having to reload the espresso every two shots. I wish it either had a bigger puck or have the ability to change the pressure to be able to get more espresso out of the grounds. Other than that, Very happy with purchase. Oh also the warmer on top doesn't keep anything warm, but I have never needed a warmer anyways.

A Great Price for Great Machine
I have been brewing my own espresso at home for over 20 years which means I have gone through a significant number of machines. I never purchased anything "high end" - never spent more than $140. THIS machine, for $137.79, is a GEM. I can make TWO double espressos, back-to-back without turning off the machine, and there's STILL plenty of power in the pump, and the temp remains stable - no temperature loss AND no overheating. How do we do this? We pack the LARGE basket with expresso, then hit the DOUBLE-cup once, and then a second time. AND THEN there's still plenty of power in the pump and heat to steam the milk! This means that the two of us can drink our coffees together at the same time. ALL the other machines that I used over the last 20 years, were never able to do this, because the pump would be played out after one brew, or the heater would drop in temperature OR overheat. That means one person drinks coffee while the other has to wait for round two. But GEVI changed all that. Great price for a great espresso machine!

Functionality
Bought this for my daughter- who is a barista by trade- she uses it daily. Frother is great. She was ecstatic to use this for home use. Not for commercial use as it will shut down (overheat?) when you do more than 3 in a row. Just unplug and plug back in and itโs reset. This is perfect for home use. Three accessories that come with it are perfect to make designs. The handle where the coffee goes was initially tight and hard to lock in place, however the more you use it- it becomes easier to lock in and open to clean it.
