So when the Missouri winter weather dipped to colder than Alaska (not even exaggerating), I was glued to this. I made sure to get a big size, too, because my medium-sized dogs love to steal it for themselves; my husband is also easily 6'3 and he can stretch out comfortably under it. I cannot speak to how it washes, but I have spot-cleaned a couple areas, and it came clean easily. The "fur" has a slightly variegated color to it, mimicking actual fur. It's a nice, light weight, while being so wonderfully warm. I **highly** recommend. Great value for the money, especially if you are like me and have multiple chronic illnesses that flare in cold weather.
