Fantastic paints, but no instruction.
Ive never used gouache paint so I have no reference to judge, but this stuff is fantastic. I did my first ever gouache painting with this set. Its not finished yet but it looks so good. I read that gouache was prized for its opacity, but I am truly amazed at how saturated and vibrant the colors really are. The set includes 18 colors, 3 brushes, a mixing pallet, a color swatch card for reference, and an airtight storage container. Everything seems to be of good quality, the case is very durable, seals well, and has a slot for each color tray so they dont get shuffled around. I left mine in the containers but they could also be emptied into the slots, I've heard that some people like to dry them out. The mixing tray is hard plastic. The wells aren't very deep, but it's spacious and fits neatly in the case. The brushes are also nice. They are a little bit stiff which is perfect for these paints as they're slightly heavy. The paints themselves are very thick and creamy. I did notice some separation on a few colors but after stirring they were great, and the open trays make them easy to stir up. There were no instructions or tips for use, which was very frustrating for me as a beginner. I've worked a lot with watercolors and acrylics but gouache is very different. I dont want to say it's hard to use because once you figure it out, its very easy to work with, but it does take some practice. Its too thick to glide smoothly on its own, so you will need to mix it with some water, but finding the right ratio can be tricky. Too much water, and it becomes transparent, bleeds into the layers below it, or doesn't show up, and too little water will cause it to smear, streak, or lift off the paper. Unlike acrylics, this paint can be reactivated with water after it dries, which is great for fixing mistakes or making changes, but requires a very light hand when layering colors or blending them together. Its ability to rehydrate also makes it super easy to clean from brushes, and completely eliminates waste. There's a good quantity of paint in each tray and because of their amazing opacity and the fact that they're thinned with water, a little bit really goes a long way. So, they're definitely worth the price. I feel like the little tubs should have lids but the paints seem to stay pretty moist in the case. The set includes all the basics colors, and they mix really well to make other colors or different shades. It came with 2 whites. Im not sure of the difference exactly. I dont use a lot of white on its own in my paintings, but I often mix it in small portions to gradient colors, so Im glad for the extra tub. I cant wait to do more with these, I love them.

Great for beginners
I am a beginner to gouache (and painting in general). While these paints may not be the highest quality for seasoned artists - for beginners just doing this as a hobby, they will more than suffice. The color range is great, and the structure of the case makes it so convenient to dip into different colors without having to squeeze a tube. They are also really cute to look at :) Cons: - No refills: given the large quantity, these will likely last a while, but you'll run out of certain colors before others without any refills - [minor] Can't close case with the palette inside: I thought it would be a convenient way to be able to store the palette, but I found that the paint from jelly cups would transfer to it from the bottom - [minor] Jelly cups can be a little hard and messy to open: Initially when opening up the cups, I ended up with some paint on my fingers and found the top foil had quite a bit of paint collected on it that I had to scrape off and put back in the cups. - [minor] Jelly cups dry out: I was expecting the jelly consistency to be retained for a while, but they stiffen up fairly quickly (less than a couple of months) even after keeping the case shut when not in use. This is not really bad in terms of functionality since it rewets easily and works great regardless, but just something to be wary of if you really wanted them for the consistency - [minor] Palette gets mildly stained when paint isn't washed off right away

Great Value and Great Paints
I'll start with, I purchased this in June 2021 and then kept it sealed in my drawer until last week (July 2025) when I finally came around to using it. To my great surprise, all the colors were still jelly and juicy and all the colors looked like they were new. I'm not super familiar with gouache which is why I bought this set. I wanted a set with a bunch of colors that I could use and test to see if I liked gouache. The Himi paints have been great so far, easy to use and store. I love the open box nature of it, it makes it a lot easier to access and scoop out paint. I've generally been generously misting my paints to keep them "wet" and it's been two weeks and nothing seems to be drying out so far. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who wants to paint with gouache.

Good for learning
Really pleased with these for the price. The case is nice quality and so far seems to keep the paints moist (I've been using them daily for about two weeks now, but careful to seal it back up after each use). The paints are highly pigmented and you get quite a bit of each. There was some slight separation in the whites, but stirring them fixed it and they perform like the other colors. For a student or hobbyist these are a good value that will give you lots of scope to work with gouache without having to be precious about expensive materials. Despite using them daily as I mentioned, I've barely made a dent in any of the pots.
