Description
Learn how to fend for yourself in the kitchen with 100 easy, cheap, and fun recipes from Spoon University There’s a time in life when you wake up and realize you’re on your own: if you don’t feed yourself, it’s buttered noodles for the rest of your days. How to Feed Yourself gives you exactly what you need to take control of your kitchen—no matter what size—and feed yourself depending on what’s in your fridge, what you’re craving, and what’s happening in your life. The goal isn’t to be perfect, but to finally cook like a real adult. No special equipment, skills, ingredients, or magic required. These recipes are based on the foods you probably have lying around—eggs, chicken, pasta, fish, potatoes, toast, grains, greens, and bananas. Once you’ve got those basics down, you’ll learn how to make them into dishes like Really Legit Breakfast Tacos, Leftover Vodka Pasta Sauce, and Empty Peanut Butter Jar Noodles. Next, you’ll discover new flavor variations, including cinnamon toast three ways, how to make chicken not bland, and the seven best ways to stir fry. The real world of feeding yourself is actually pretty great. Welcome. Go forth and cook like a real person. Read more

Not just for when you don’t know what you’re doing
When I first went out on my own I didn’t know how to cook anything. Going to school, working part and full time and trying to have a life left no time to decipher traditional cookbooks (mirepoix, really?! I didn’t know the difference between boil and simmer) I so wish this book was around way back then. This should be on everyone’s bookshelf! Good, solid, easy to follow recipes that even after having raised a family and fed what felt like an army I still learned some new tricks Buy this book!

Favourite cookbook for a beginner
I purchased other college student cookbooks along with this one but this is definitely the best one. I don't have any cooking expertise so I loved how the book managed to explain everything in a way that made sense. The visuals are fantastic and I'd recommended this book for anyone. It has things for the starter cook as well as unique twists to recipes(I.e. tater tot grilled cheese) that can also be of interest to a more experienced cook.

Perfect for the young person on their own for the first time.
I purchased this as a graduation gift for my eldest grandson who will be on his own for the first time. I thought I'd glance through it first and ended up making several of the recipes myself. They were easy and delicious, so I can personally attest to the usefulness of this book for a young person just starting out on their own.

Easy and tasty recipes
I have bought this book for each of my college age children. Easy to make recipes. Easy directions and really tasty meals. Actually anyone can use this book not just college students learning how to cook.
