Still a great journal but I miss the pen loop :-(
I started using these journals a couple years ago to take the place of the previous ones made by Piccadilly I was buying at Barnes & Noble, which apparently were discontinued. I found these on Amazon and in short order I found they were a very nice substitute. They HuHuHero journals have a rigid cover vs. the more pliable ones on the Piccadilly, which I wasn’t sure I liked, but after getting used to it, has been fine. The covers hold up well. Two additional features I initially loved about the HuHuHero journals was the elasticized pen loop, and the pocket built into the back cover, which is a great place to tuck notes, stamps or whatever. I just purchased another 5 pack and when I opened the first journal I was sad to see they had done away with the pen loop. It still has an elastic band to hold the journal closed, and also has a sewn ribbon bookmark, which are excellent features and done with nice workmanship. I just wish they were still including that little pen loop because I am forever losing my pen without it!

Very high quality for the price
As someone who has used and loved Moleskine for years, I won’t say these compare in terms of material quality. However, I found that for every day needs I didn’t need to use a Moleskine. That being said, these notebooks are very high quality for their price. They are definitely worth stacking up on your shelf for your daily needs, and you don’t feel the pressure of needing something “worthy” of writing like you do a Moleskine or equivalent. There is no ink bleeding, though it’s hard to attribute that to the paper or the pen. They really do lay flat, no break in period required and surprisingly no spinal creasing. The other thing I like is that the cover grips your writing surface, almost like a soft rubber instead of a smooth leather that slides while you’re writing. If that was intentional then it’s a smart choice by the manufacturer. We will see what 10-20 years does to them when they are filled and shelved, but I bet they will hold up just fine. Save yourself some money and buy these, you won’t be disappointed.

I rarely write reviews that don't contain some mention of a product's flaws. This is one of those rare ones. These books are very comfortable to hold and use. They "feel good" - seriously - and I've never written that in a review before. They're well constructed. Almost no damage after being dropped a couple of dozen times on a hardwood floor - only one corner looks very slightly dented. Surprisingly good quality paper that's a pleasure to write on. Nice touches like a ribbon bookmark, sewn spine, and a pocket on the inner back cover are icing on the cake. On top of all that, they're very well priced. I wholeheartedly recommend them, and you'll be glad to have purchased them should you do to. I am, and will be buying more. If you know someone who journals or is always taking notes, they'll love these.

Perfect for school notes
I got these notebooks for school and really really love them. I actually refuse to use anything else because I have spoiled myself with these. The notebooks are super durable but they aren't huge so they fit in whatever bag I decide to carry around with me. The paper is also thicker than anything you would find with a spiral notebook which I love because I can write with pen and the ink doesn't seep through to the other side of the paper or onto the next page. This makes it so I can use every page for notes and they are all nice and readable. They are also great because they can be left out on your desk and they look decorative!
