Unique timer board game for all ages
I love games and couldn't resist trying this beautifully constructed timer game. The timers represent flowers. The concept is simple - on your turn, you (1) move or place one of your two hummingbirds, or (2) check on a flower your hummingbird is already on to see if the time has run out. Timers run from 30 seconds (the four purples) to 10 minutes (the one red). Increments of 1, 3, and 5 minutes have two timers each. Checking your timer is when you gain or lose points. If you choose correctly that one of your timers has run out, you collect a corresponding point token, with shorter timers having a lower point value and the 10 minute timer having the highest value. You collect a points token and choose a new flower, then your turn ends. If you choose incorrectly and there's still time left when you check, you not only have to vacate that flower, but also give back a point token. It's a triple hit - you lose points, lose your progress tracking that flower, and lose your chance to have two active flowers until your next turn. The instructions say to move quickly and count down 3 seconds if anyone is being slower. I like this element of discretion that keeps it fast paced so that not all timers can run down between turns. The first time I played was with my two children, 8 and almost 5, and the game was an instant hit. We all got the concept immediately and were captived. My younger child chose the red and then a bunch of purples, and ended up with the lowest points. My older child and I were within 3 points of each other. Since it was our first time playing, we adapted the game so that we didn't have to vacate flowers or relinquish points. You can definitely make up house rules to adapt to your age levels. The game ends when all tokens of one color are gone, meaning that once someone correctly checks the red, the game ends since there's only one red token. But we were having so much fun that both children wanted to keep going. We did a few more rounds until running out of more color tokens. This game is really fun for both adults and children. It was a challenge to remember which of your two pieces to check on or move, and then determine which new flower might give you the best value on your next turns. The artwork is gorgeous. The game is a great value. I can't wait to play again. One of my favorite parts is the instruction insert explaining the creator's inspiration for the game and letting the person who has seen a hummingbird most recently go first. Entertaining and unique all around! One of my pictures shows setup between rounds, when you need all timers to go back to zero and then flip them simultaneously.

Colorful and sweetly chaotic
Well, I thought I was pretty good at telling time … until I tried this delightfully mind-bending and compulsively playable game. Setup is simple and actually fun. There is some assembly, and you will need to make sure the timers are all ready before you start playing, but 10 minutes, that’s about how long it will take to play. It’s a beautiful game, cleverly designed and uniquely executed. Whether you’re feeling cozy or competitive or a little bit of both, Hummingbirds will be a colorful and sweetly chaotic addition to your game night.

One of my favorites!
This is a beautiful game and so quick to learn and play. Setting up the first time is the a bit tricky, check out the bottom inside of the box if you get confused too. I do wish that you could put the game away without taking out the tubes each time. A friend mentioned with how they fit, damage is inevitable. Maybe someone came up with a bigger box? In any case I feel like this game is made with great quality and if something does happen it will be worth me getting again. It is one of my current favorites.

Fun and beautiful
Got this for the wife for Mother’s Day. She wanted this and we played it twice already. It is fun and a good paced game. It’s one I look forward to playing this with her many more times.
