Cute Starter Kit That Made Indoor Herb Growing Easy
Wanted to try growing some herbs indoors for cooking without committing to a full garden setup, and this starter kit was the right call to ease into it. Right out of the package the presentation is nice, the wooden planter box has a quality feel and the rustic look fits in well on my kitchen windowsill. Everything needed to get started is included which means no extra shopping trips before getting your hands dirty. The 5 burlap pots fit perfectly in the wooden box and add to the cute aesthetic, plus they make the whole setup feel intentional rather than thrown together. The soil disks were honestly the most interesting part for me, started off as these compressed pucks then expanded into way more soil than I expected once I added water. Way easier than hauling a bag of potting mix into the house. The included seeds covered a good variety, the basil, cilantro, parsley, thyme, and peppermint hit most of the herbs I actually use when cooking. The plant labels included are a thoughtful touch since the seedlings all look similar when they first sprout. Germination has been impressive so far, most of the seeds came up within the timeframe described in the instructions. The illustrated instruction manual walks through every step which made the whole thing approachable even for someone like me without much gardening experience. My daughter has gotten into helping with the watering routine which has turned it into a fun little ongoing project for us. The compact size fits nicely on my kitchen windowsill where it gets decent sun throughout the day. The wooden box is well made and feels substantial enough to last beyond just this first growing cycle. A few things worth mentioning though, the burlap pots can leak slightly when watering so I keep the wooden box positioned where minor drips wont cause issues. Different herbs grow at different rates so dont expect them all to be ready at the same time. The size of the planter means harvesting needs to be done conservatively to keep the plants going. For an indoor herb growing starter setup, this is a worthwhile pickup and I’d reccomend it.

Great gift for others or yourself
Super cute boxed herb garden. It comes with everything you need to get started. The baskets have drainage holes and the bottom of the box has a clear plastic liner to keep it from leaking/breaking down. The liner is not that deep so you have to be careful not to over water. I love that it comes with a little spray bottle for watering so you then don’t need to worry about spillage. There are cute little stakes to label your herbs so you know what is what as they sprout. There are two tips for first time growers to increase your chances of success and make it a little less messy. First, seeds germinate best when the soil is kept warm at an even temperature. This is hard to accomplish on a windowsill so consider placing it somewhere with less temperature fluctuations or on a heat mat until everything has sprouted. Second, it is a bit messy as the instructions say to put the puck in a bowl of warm water until it swells and then transfer to the pot. I use coco coir pellets for all my seed starts. I usually just set the receptacle in a tray, drop in the pellet, slowly a little pour warm water over it, wait for the water to absorb, repeat as necessary unti fully expanded, use a popsicle stick/butter knife to stir medium around and fluff it up, then insert seed. No mess.

Nice kit
This is a decent herb starter kit. You get everything they show, including the soil discs that you moisten to break up into the soil you use. Most of the kit is pretty standard, baby garden tools, seed packets, markers. Instead of pots, you get burlap sacks that are plastic lined to grow the seeds in. I am kind of on the fence with those. I can see a child having issues moving them without spilling out the contents since they are just bags, but it is nice having something besides a cheap plastic pot for once. The box itself is great quality. When not in use, one can put the items back inside it and cover it with the lid to store it all for next season or using another time. It includes some good instructions on growing each seed type. There is one seed I would have preferred to see something else of, but for the most part they are all useful for most people to use for cooking. It would be a great gift idea for someone learning to grow herbs, whether a child or adult.

Cute herb set
This is such a cute and complete little herb garden kit. It includes almost everything you need to start growing herbs right away, which makes it great for beginners and it would also make an amazing gift. The mini burlap grow bags are adorable and the set also includes dirt discs, mini tools, pruning scissors, plant markers, and a spray bottle. The seeds included are basil, thyme, cilantro, parsley, and peppermint, which is a really useful variety for cooking. One of my favorite parts is actually the cedar box itself. It is really nice quality and can be reused in a lot of different ways. Overall, this is a fun and thoughtfully put together kit that would work well on a windowsill or in a homeschool gardening project.
