Lovely to look at, writes smoothly, screw in converter!
Excellent pen, and at the price unbelievable value. The medium nib writes smoothly and lays down a lot of ink for being a medium. Using it with JHerbin's Emeraude de Chivor shimmer ink, and it's flowing beautifully (although the line isn't broad enough for the shimmer). I usually prefer a broad nib, other than a few note taking pens (small notebooks mean fine nibs so you can get more on a page...), and I'd love to have one of these with a broad nib. Very pretty, on a desk with other fountain pens that I have in rotation right now, it looks right at home despite being a fraction of most of the other pens' prices. Note that this particular pen has a VERY fat body. Again, I like the feel of a large pen barrel, so exactly what I wanted. Just know that it will not fit into some of the small capacity ink bottles you may have. That made me a little edgy because that meant pulling the converter to fill that way, and that's when I discovered the converter is a screw in and that's a huge plus for me. In my experience screw in converters are less likely to leak. But nothing came with the pen letting me know about that. I was tugging and tugging and then thought hmmm, let's see if it unscrews, and it did. I was very close to stripping the screw in threads. PLEASE let people know if a pen has a screw in converter! I'll be watching for a broad nib... Maybe in bright blue, or orange...

Great large pen for excellent price point
When you look at the price point and weigh it against what you get, this is a fantastic pen that punches way above it class. This is a large pen. For many, this will not be a very comfy pen. My wife's small hands don't find this a comfy pen. But for larger guys like me, I really enjoy the size. And even for me, the size took a bit to get used to. The nib is a nice large #8. Pretty smooth ha e to say, but not the smoothest in my stable. But still, very good. I find the lower my writing angle, the smoother it gets, but my typical, default angle, I get a little bit of feedback. But nothing to put me off the pen at all. The most obvious comparison to this pen would be the Jin Hao X159. This pen is just a little larger. The 9019 measured 13mm at the base of the grip and 16.4mm at the widest part of the barrel on my calipers, vs 12.6mm and 15.2mm on the X159 Perhaps the biggest improvement between those two pens is the very large converter. I included a photo to show the converter size comparison to the X159. Dollar for dollar, the pen really is a steal. Very glad to have it. If you've been wanting a large pen but didn't want to commit to large dollars, give this pen a try

My favorite fountain pen for comfort
I have probably over 100 fountain pens. The most expensive are a couple that cost around$50-$60. I follow a fountain pen group on Facebook and have seen many many people say the price does not improve the quality so I’ve been content to stick with reasonably priced pens. The jinhao 9019 has become by far my favorite pen. It is very fat so it makes it much easier to write for longer periods of time without pain being an issues. I’ve since stopped buying any pens except the 9019. Although I do like my pilot kakuno mondoramis as well. They are pretty comfortable to use as well. Recommend the modoramis over the others that look like them. They are more comfortable for some reason. I mention those in case a fat pen doesn’t work for you. The 9019 has the largest converters I’ve found. I love being able to go long periods without refilling. Ink flow is good but can depend on the ink you use. I sometimes struggle with a very dry ink. I have been using 9019 for nearly a year. I have 7 of them and have never had a problem with any of them. I LOVE that they come apart in so many pieces. It only takes a few minutes to clean them in order to change inks.

A giant banana that writes like a dream!!!
WOW. I was quite surprised that this pen writes so nicely!!! It writes better than some of my pens in the $200 range. No joke! I got it in the M nib and it is nice and juicy. It feels nice in the hand, and I thought it would be too wide for my small hands, but it is so comfortable! It's on the larger side of most of my pens, but that's fine... I love having a wide range of sizes. It holds a lot of ink too! It's pretty lightweight for a pen this size, even when posted. Sure, it's all plastic and I wish the body of the pen was more opaque, and had silver trim instead of gold, but hey, that's personal preference I guess!! I honestly did think it was quite ugly at first, but now I'm really in love with my beautiful giant banana pen!!! It makes me smile whenever I use it. The sample in the photo is written in Sailor 670, which is an actual dream with this M nib. Give it a whirl! I'm sure you'll go BANANAS over it too!!! (p.s... no pens were harmed in the video... it just rolled into my lap, haaa!)
