Most Zombie Apocalypse Proof Pocket Fountain Pen
If you like the Kaweco Sport pens for their form, function, portability, and simple design, this Steel Sport pen will be an awesome addition to your collection. If you like the plastic (or Ebonite) versions because of their light weight in addition to all of its other features, the Steel Sport is NOT going to be your favorite; it weighs more than twice as much as the plastic versions, and almost twice as much as the Aluminum versions. However, if you like a little heft in your pocket to remind you of which pocket your pen is in, or you like the feel of extra weight in your hand as you're writing, this pen will satisfy immensely. And, unlike the Brass or Bronze versions, which have similar weights, the Steel Sport will not tarnish, patina, and will resist scuffs, nicks, and dents way better. Same #5 nib as all other Kaweco Sport pens. Mine came with an Extra Fine nib, which is reasonably smooth, considering that EF nibs are inherently going to provide more "feedback" than Medium or Broad nibs. It's also a little dry, so the single International cartridge will last you quite a while. Any International cartridge will fit, as well as the Kaweco mini converter (0.4 ml). This might be almost heresy, but if you're not into fountain pens, the Metal Sport pens are also available as roller ball/ballpoint pens, using any of the Parker G2 style refills...and if filled with a Fisher Spacepen cartridge can be left in the car all year long without fear of leaking or drying out.

Steeeely
Really like these little pens. My son introduced me some years back as he has a few of the Sports in classic and skyline. Those are plastic and lightweight but sturdy. Bought the Brass for myself and thoroughly enjoyed it until I lost it (no clip). It was by no means lightweight. It was small but had heft and the fine nib wasn’t that fine but smooth if a little stiff. Prices had really jumped in the interim and I balked at throwing down more than twice what I’d paid before. However, I caught a price drop on an extra-fine Steel and pulled the trigger. They’re the pricey version and I wondered what I was getting but it was the real deal - tin box and blue cartridge tucked up in the barrel and all. It has a different texture and feel but the finish is well wrought. It’s weighty for its size but perfectly balanced and writes like a dream (but stiff for those used to Pilot, TWSBI, Moonman and so forth). Very happy with it, the price and I got a clip this time. The chrome, vintage-looking one. Nice Update. EDC partnered with Brass w/italic nib. Very tough finish. No sign of any wear even tho carried in jeans pocket with keys, etc. The extra fine starts at the first stroke. It’s my best writer although it is very fine.

Quality product, excellent customer service
I am already familiar with the Kaweco product line, but have recently been getting into fountain pens. I already own the brass sport version of this, but with a Fine nib. This one had an Extra Fine nib, which I was excited to try out for writing complex Asian characters. Getting this one started was difficult... it was not laying down a nice line of ink and felt very scratchy. I tried writing on different types and qualities of paper and the result was the same. I wrote to the seller asking for advice and they suggested flushing out the nib with warm water; which I later learned you should do with any new nib, to get rid of any factory oils. When this did not improve the performance of the pen, the seller offered a refund, but I wanted to keep it, and asked for a nib replacement instead. They promptly sent it to me within a matter of days. I'm very happy with this level of customer service and would recommend this seller to anyone.

A head-turner and excellent pocket pen
I love my Steel sport. The EF nib provides the exact fineness to write in Chinese (as even western fine nibs are not up to the task of being able to write my desired small, well-defined characters). The nib has been smooth, but other contributory factors such as paper and the ink used can contribute to that issue before it's a hardware issue (but check the tine alignment and if its off adjust it or have it adjusted!) The weight is excellent as I appreciate a hefty pen, but for longer writing sessions I would definitely reach for another instrument. This model is a head-turner and I have received compliments when I bring it out to play. As for drawbacks, I do on occasion have the interior chamber become loose when I unscrew the cap, which is a bit irritating, but it may just be my unit. Aside from that, I have had no issues with the pen and have used it consistently since I have received it.
