NICE, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK OUT FOR ME...
I know this is strange, but I'm leaving a 5 star review for an item I returned. This journal looks exactly as pictured & is very well constructed, in my opinion. The Deckle Edge paper alone makes this item very special. It does look like an old, ancient journal. And, that paper....it's just so cool!! It has a nice rough, "old world" feel to it. I believe anyone who enjoys writing with whatever they use for a pen or pencil will love how their writing instrument interacts with the surface of the paper. People who enjoy calligraphy or anything like that would probably love this. Why did I return it? The leather had a smell that I couldn't get past. It wasn't a horrible, chemical smell or anything like that. It was just a different leather scent that I am not accustomed to. It was very....earthy to me, I guess, for lack of a better word. It just wasn't for me. Others may find no issue with the scent at all. I may even relent & buy it again some day.

Better than I bargained for
I can't believe I'm actually staying something like that, but yeah, it's actually exactly what you'd expect. The paper actually feels aged, rough, almost cloth like. The binding is ACTUALLY leather, the cover is ACTUALLY leather. Like, real leather, not fake stuff. This is perfect for my DnD character, to take notes in (as well as writing her backstory as journal entries) This thing feels super sturdy and very rugged. This is the perfect "old journal" looking journal you can find. Way better than I expected, especially at this price.

Fantastic quality item, the build quality is excellent and the rustic touch of the handmade paper is beyond words. This is the perfect size for portability and it has more than enough paper to last for a long time. Paper is thick and ink will not carry into the next page easily. Leather is supple and the finish overall is great, including the intuitive locking system. Top notch product!

Not cheap material antique parchment like feel
This was absolutely gorgeous. It looks genuinely antique and the material is very durable. The paper in made out of thick parchment like material and I've never had a problem with bleed thru even while using pen. There is a lot of pages to be able to write in. And I loved the leather cover and how authentic it made the entire thing feel.
