Very Impressed with this small, lightweight tablet - much nicer than I was expecting

I did an impulse purchase the last time Amazon dropped the price of this Lenovo Tab One tablet. It's 8.7-inch screen and one pound weight (with case) is what enticed me to buy it. I wanted something with a bigger screen than my phone, but considerably lighter (and smaller) than my powerful 12-inch OnePlus tablet. Something I can easily hold with one hand for general email, news, and social media browsing as well as light gaming. The form factor of this Lenovo Tab One fits my needs perfectly. After using it for this past week, here is my brief review: 1. Screen - its 1340 x 800 resolution looks better than I anticipated. Great vibrant colors and sufficient brightness. Good touch response. Split screen function works fine to run/view two apps at same time. 2. Sound - decent, about what you'd expect for a tablet this size. There is a dedicated headphone jack if you want to hear the bass. 3. Battery - using it all day, I've not dropped below 30% charge. More than enough for my needs. 4. Cameras - 8MP rear camera does fine, but does not compare to my Pixel 10 Pro. The 2MP front camera works great for facial recognition, making it super easy to log onto the tablet. 5. Software - Android 14 out of the box but automatically updated to Android 15 after setting it up (that's as high as Lenovo plans on taking it). Lenovo will support quarterly security updates through 3/14/27 so you can plan on replacing this tablet at the end of 2027 if you want to stay safe. 6. Performance - seems snappy at all the basic tasks and runs every app I need (including a few basic games) without any problems or slowdowns. 4GB of computer memory, so don't expect miracles with large games. 7. Expandability - I inserted a 128GB microSD card to supplement the 64GB of built-in storage, so I have plenty of on-board storage. 8. Case - the included folio case is fine. You can use it to hold the tablet up like a laptop screen if needed. The cover, when folded over and back makes a convenient handhold for the tablet. Summary: This Lenovo Tab One tablet turned out to fit my needs perfectly and, for the price, delivers a significantly more polished experience than I was anticipating. This is one impulse purchase that worked out very well.

Great kindle alternative using android

Update: This tablet is still amazing. I've had it for sometime now and I have no complaints at all. It still works great for reading and light browsing on the web. I have not noticed any stutter unless I have a bunch of tabs open on my browser. Like I stated before remove all non essential apps that you don't plan on using and you'll be fine. The battery is amazing and charges fast and will last for days when not in use. For this price point this is an amazing affordable tablet. I was honestly surprised with how decent this tablet is. It’s not the strongest piece of equipment but for the price it works quite well. It took a little bit to turn off some of the default apps that I don’t plan on using, but once I got all the non essential apps disabled or uninstalled it seemed quite snappy. Even browsing the web is pretty responsive as long as you don’t have 10+ tabs open. Original: The main reason I got this tablet was because my old kindles battery started expanding and pushing the screen out so I mainly plan on using it for kindle reading and reading some manga. The screen is bright enough and the letters and images are crisp. Honestly it is a step up from the kindle that I have had since 2020. I can’t say anything about the battery yet (reason being I’ve only had it for a day) but so far it seems like as long as I don’t have the brightness turned up all the way the battery will be more then sufficient for what I’m asking from the tablet. The WiFi strength is honestly better than my old kindle, that thing struggled to work on 5ghz in my bedroom and this thing works just fine. If you plan on using this tablet for gaming I would look for something a little more powerful (sad to say the 8 inch size is hard to find with a good cpu/ram) but for a kindle alternative it works amazing.

Don't let the price fool you. This is NOT a cheaply made tablet whatsoever.

I read the negative reviews as well as watched some YouTube videos before making the purchase. The videos I watched impressed me with how smooth and quick this tablet responded compared to others at this price range. To my surprise, it runs rather quick, although I can see why some would possibly think its slow because of all the bloatware apps it comes with.....however, once you uninstall those, do some minor tweaks like remove animations in the developer menu, this tablet comes to life. The downside to this tablet so far that I've come across is it's not very bright, but indoors that won't matter, and the other downside is that it can't handle 60 fps videos. But honestly, 30 fps videos look just fine and for the price, I can't say it's a negative. It does handle 1080p, 1440p and 4K videos fine, but only at 24-30 fps. If I had to compare this to other tablets, I would say do NOT buy any others at this price range. This tablet smokes them in performance/speed/responsiveness by a landslide. With how fast it responds, I would say this tablet "feels" like it would be in the $200-$250+ price range. I've tried Samsungs A6 and A7 tablets before, and this Lenovo tablet is still way better than those were. Even with only 4GB of RAM, you would think this tablet has more. Battery life seems pretty good as well, even better than other tablets I tried in the past that had a bigger capacity. And the sound I would say is pretty good as well. Cranked up to max, I didn't hear any distortions. All and all, this tablet is a gem for the price. I would highly recommend it to anyone not wanting to go over $100.

Nice small tablet

I work from home and listen to YouTube, either news or music, all day. I'd been using my iPad Mini 4, but that finally died and so searched around for a replacement, was hoping to not have to spring for another iPad Mini. I loved it but they are pricey. I found this and looked like it was worth a shot. It's great - great sound, great picture, no speed issues. Had to figure a few things out and took a little longer to set up than expected as I thought I'd just plug in my google account and voila...well there was more to it than that. But once I figured out some of the quirks (not issues, just differences), I am pleased as punch with it. No ads (looking at you, Kindle) or account weirdness (ie Microsoft). Bear in mind it sits on my work desk plugged in all day (where I discovered there's battery saver mode that it offered to turn on for me...looked into it and sounds like a good idea) and I only use it for YouTube, occasional social media scrolling or weather apps so I'm not exactly running it ragged. For my purposes it's excellent. I also have it hooked up to a bluetooth speaker for when I have my noisy air conditioner on, as I don't want to blow the speakers like I did on my phone. The built in speaker is very good under most circumstances. If you want a good small tablet and don't want to cough up the money for an iPad mini, give this a try.
