A simple upgrade, but a good one for comfort and hair/skincare.
UPDATE: 9/29/2016 The Lilysilk people reached out to me to make sure I was satisfied with the product. All of my bedding (other than this pillow and a quilt at the foot of the bed) is white, and I'd actually been having some problems with color transfer. There are some hot pink splotches on my white quilt and I've also noticed that occasionally I'll get some hot pink staining on my skin. This is probably because I'm either sweating (or drooling, let's be real) at night or because Florida is painfully humid. Either way, I notified them of the issue and they immediately offered me options, reassurance (about the non-toxic nature of the dye), and a refund. I love the product and wanted to keep it, so they kindly offered to exchange my case for one in a lighter color that wouldn't lead to noticeable color transfer. I could not be more impressed by how kind, responsive, and pro-active they were in addressing my simple concern. I will definitely be buying pillowcases from them as gifts this christmas season--I'll just keep in mind my recipients' bedding colors as I choose. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am recently on a mission to improve the quality of my hair and skin--your mid-30s hitting will do that, apparently. I carefully read reviews on silk pillowcases before I went for this one, and I learned some interesting things: 1. There's no such thing as a satin "fabric" -- satin is a finish. 2. There are apparently many different weights of silk (known as mommes) and they impact how heavy the silk is and thus how well suite it is to any particular use. 3. Many celebrities sleep on silk pillowcases! After reading the reviews of many options, I elected to go with the fuchsia pillowcase from Lilysilk. Some earlier reviewers mentioned that the products on their face or general face/hair oils could discolor the lighter ones and I didn't want to take that risk. The color is great; it's a bright, shiny pop of awesome pink on my bed. The texture is very smooth but not unpleasantly slick. The fabric stays cool at night and does not get warm. As advertised, only the top of the pillowcase is silk; the bottom is white cotton. This is nice for a couple of reasons. First, that I can easily just turn the pillow over during the day if I don't want the bright pink, but more importantly so that my foster kitty doesn't shed all over the silk while I'm at work. Second, that the grippier surface of the cotton holds to the sheet and doesn't let the pillow slide around while I'm sleeping. The pillow does zip closed, which is a nice touch I'd never thought to look for but will definitely keep in mind in the future. I have one of those memory foam neck pillows, so there's a bit of excess on the sides, but that hasn't been a problem at all. Now, does it work? I have to say I think it delivers on the quantifiable promises. I usually have to wash my hair daily because it gets so out of control and sweaty and oily after I sleep on it. With this pillow case, however, I've been able to go a solid 2.5 days--my hair is much more manageable when I wake up and I can brush it out and go without it looking like a disaster. I'm already planning to buy these for friends as gifts!

Best investment of the year
Update 9/2022 I have purchased these every two years now and they are amazing. The brand is costly and products reflect the pricepoint. I recommended these to anyone who needs real silk and wants a quality product. I wish they had them for toddler pillows because my daughter would love it. I’m waiting for her to move to a twin bed and then will buy her a full bed set. So worth it. Honestly I LOVE writing reviews and when they are positive it’s even better. Like a cherry on top! I am so glad I am able to write this one today. First off let me just say I have hypothyroidism and my hair was falling out all the time. One of the things that made it worse was waking up with tangled hair and having to attempt to brush it out. More hair would just break or come from the root. Of course my medication was changed and it helped some but it didn’t stop the issues of my curly hair being tangled all night long and I’m a side or back sleeper. So I figured I would get one of these in a queen size and go from there. The presentation was beautiful. It’s a great product that was delivered on time and just was great from the start. After a few days I had to wash it and feared it would fall apart or something bad would happen - maybe it would shrink. Nope! Nothing! It was perfect! I’ve been using it for a while now and I couldn’t be happier. I totally recommend the white queen pillowcase. Great product.

Comfortable, soft and 100% FABULOUS.
Very happy with this pillowcase. Love that it is white cotton underneath -- no chasing your slippery pillow all over the place at night. I had a pure satin pillowcase and hated it for that reason; I'd never buy another slippery-fabric pillowcase that DIDN'T have a cotton side. In fact, I'd pay more for a pillowcase with a cotton side vs both sides silk! To compare silk to satin in a pillowcase: satin is definitely much warmer and slightly more slippery/slick. The silk breathes much better; very comfortable and doesn't make your face/head feel overly warm. This case is medium weight; thin, but substantial enough to machine wash fine. I'm a side sleeper, so half my face is always on the pillow...I love that this one is so breathable and comfy, and no, it doesn't show face oils or anything. The silk is soft and sleek, but not so much that your face slides off (ha!). Silk pillowcases (and satin, too) are supposed to be easy on your hair, and I'd agree with that; I have long, fine, wavy hair and even if I've tossed and turned a lot, my hair isn't a rat's nest. I bought it in silver/gray and the color was exactly as pictured.

Solves My Hair Problems!
Silk pillowcases are lauded for not absorbing the oils from your hair and not causing friction and generating frizz. I wanted to enjoy the benefits of a silk pillowcase but then I had issues with my head literally sliding off every silk pillowcase I’d buy and causing neck pain in the morning besides bad hair. This product fixes that! My head stays put and so my pillowcase can work its magic. In the picture I’ve attached, one side of my head was the side I slept on aka on the silk, and the other was the side my cotton blanket was pulled over. You can see the difference in how smooth my hair is on the silk side versus where the cotton blanket was rubbing against. The cotton dried out my hair and even caused my bangs to look crazy. Normally, I’d use my silk bonnet but unfortunately my forehead has been breaking out lately. Sleep on this pillowcase if you want every day to be a good hair day!
