This is an impressive device that is substantial in both size and functionality. It fulfills its intended purpose extremely well, and with this device, it would be very difficult to forget to take your pills. The reminders are persistent, with both audible and visual notifications, and the adjustable volume is helpful for different needs and environments. At first, the instruction manual felt a bit overwhelming simply because of its size, and the setup process initially seemed intimidating. However, once we actually began the setup, it turned out to be fairly straightforward. Using the QR code was especially helpful, as it links to a step-by-step setup video that was easy to follow. Filling the pill organizer is more time-consuming than using a traditional pill container. You must remove all 21 individual cups and organize them according to the different times of day for each dose. That said, the tradeoff is a system that dramatically reduces missed medications because the reminders are extremely persistent and difficult to ignore. It also deserves mention that if you use the wireless feature, you will get notices on your phone as well as from the actual device. The wireless setup was quick and easy, and the app interface is intuitive and user-friendly. Makes pill management and compliance so much easier for multiple caregivers
I got this to use with my dad who needs support with medication management and compliance. We have another one like it that we really liked and I was curious if this one would be better or if it would help to use it in addition to the other so we could fill up two units at once and have those already prepared. They are so much alike that I suspect they're made by the same manufacturer but sold by different brands. The other one has worked out fantastically for us, and so far this one has too. The dispenser sort of pops out the pill container which is helpful for people with fine motor, arthritis, or sensation difficulty in their fingers. The pill containers are also easy to open. This one will notify both my dad, mom, and me on our phones of the scheduled time and if the medication has been taken or not. You can also set an alarm to alert if you want. One additional feature is a flashing light alarm, which I can imagine this being helpful for people who may not be able to hear the alarm as well. The app includes other ways to control the device including the option to take the dose early. I feel like if someone can navigate the app, they have the wherewithal to know whether or not they should be taking it early, but it's just something to be aware of. Also, you can leave it unlocked. I keep manual, key, and spare pill boxes together in one location just in case. Needing more pill boxes or a key is the only thing that makes me nervous about this pill dispenser.
