Description
A design book filled with beautiful photography and clear ideas for how to use pattern to decorate your home. If you focus on pattern, from texture and color to furniture and textiles, everything else will fall into place. Pattern is the strongest element in any room. In Living with Pattern, Rebecca Atwood demystifies how to use that element, a design concept that often confounds and confuses, demonstrating how to seamlessly mix and layer prints throughout a house. She covers pattern usage you probably already have, such as on your duvet cover or in the living room rug, and she also reveals the unexpected places you might not have thought to add it: bathroom tiles, an arrangement of book spines in a reading nook, or windowpane gridding in your entryway. This stunning book showcases distinct uses of pattern in homes all over the country to inspire you to realize that an injection of pattern can enliven any space, helping to make it uniquely yours. This is a wonderful resource filled with insightful writing
This is a wonderful resource filled with insightful writing, beautiful photographs, and sweet painted scenes. This book goes farther than simply talking about scale, or what to put together with what, it helps you to see what you already own in a new way or if you want to buy something, how to visualize it in your space. Often with books like these, there are lots of "projects" that I don't care about taking over half the book, and this is not the case here! The majority of the book is actual content- and the projects are things I am actually interested in, that relate to the book. I was thoroughly impressed with everything about this book, and I know that it will be a staple in my collection. Plus, its absolutely beautiful on your coffee table or shelf. Such a lovely book, Rebecca- I will be referencing it for a long time.

Inspirational and Thought-Provoking with Plenty of Visuals
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Although some of the styling is a little eclectic for me, I love the writing style and for the most part the decor (i.e., light walls, texture, contrast, pops of color, antiques, unusual accents). There is a section at the front that discusses how to put together color and pattern and balance them, with pictures. It starts with warm and cool neutrals, adding intensity with color and then including saturated and accent color. If you are not in the design world (and I am not), this is an informative chapter. I know I will refer back to it again and again. Our children are grown and we are slowing working through the house to freshen the decor. I am so happy to find this wonderful book! Bonus - Several do-it-yourself projects, and three pages of resources at the end.

Fabulous
Oh my goodness! I love this book! It takes you, a novice with no experience in interior design, and goes through the process of helping you understand the relationship between color and texture to make your home amazing. It gives recommendations room by room to help you be aware of the potential ideas to make your house look fabulous. Are you a wanna-be (or actual) hippie who wants to use those psychedelic '60s colors? This book will teach you how to incorporate those designs into a workable, non-drug induced pattern. Do you love that baby diarrhea '70s yellow? This book will teach you how to match that color with other patterns and colors for an aesthetically pleasing look.

Great Design book with edging in Orange!
Great source for design information when decorating your home. Haven’t found the time to really pour over the contents yet. It was highly recommend by a designer friend of mine. The book pages are edged in bright orange which makes this book stand out when stacked on top of other books. Very pretty and clever!
