Description
- YOUR NEW GO-TO STAMPED PAN: The Lodge Sugar Skull Cast Iron Stamped Skillet is the perfect kitchen tool for beginners, home cooks and chefs. Cast iron can handle any kitchen cooktop, oven, grill, and open flame. Crafted in America with iron and oil, its naturally seasoned cooking surface creates an easy-release and improves with use. - SEASONED COOKWARE: Seasoning is simply oil baked into the iron, giving it a natural, easy-release finish and helps prevent your pan from rusting. Lodge pre-seasons all cast iron cookware with 100% natural vegetable oil: no synthetic coatings or chemicals. The more you use Lodge the better the seasoning will get! - RUST? DON’T PANIC! IT’S NOT BROKEN: When your pan arrives you may notice a spot that looks like rust. It is simply oil that has not fully carbonized. With regular use and care the spot will disappear. If you do notice rust simply scour the affected area with steel wool, wash with warm water, dry, and rub with vegetable oil. - COOKING VERSATILITY: Our skillets have unparalleled heat retention that gives you edge-to-edge even cooking every time you use your skillet. Cast iron cookware is slow to heat up but retains heat longer which makes cast iron ideal for pan-frying and roasting, these delicious moments are cast to last. - FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it is a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. Lodge products are made in the USA with non-toxic, PFOA & PTFE free material.

An American Classic, made in USA!
I’m new to the cast iron world and got this sugar skull Lodge for a lot cheaper on Amazon than on the Lodge website. I like skulls, so I had to have this! The size is a nice size for smaller tasks, it would hold 3 or 4 fried or scrambled eggs, could warm tortillas, grill a sandwich, probably could hold one pound for ground meat, perfect for if you are just cooking for yourself or just need a smaller pan. After an initial wash with soap and water (because it’s new and has been handled a lot and traveled to get to me and who knows what it might have picked up) I gave it a little warming on the stove top to drive off any remaining moisture and then I did a seasoning in the oven, even though I know this comes pre-seasoned. I preheated the pan on medium for about 5 minutes, until some flicked water danced across the surface and then added about a tablespoon of butter. I also meant to set the eggs out to come to room temp, but they were still somewhat cold. I fried two eggs and went better than expected. The pan has a good weight to it, even for being a smaller pan and it didn’t take too long to preheat before I added butter and eggs. I used a spatula to lift the egg and flip it and while I had to give it a little bit pressure of because it wouldn’t just slide around, it lifted easily and cleanly. The flipside left a few tiny bits, possibly because that side had salt and pepper on it and I think I took it out a bit too soon, but it still came away easily and the few tiny bits were easy to scrape with a metal turner and wiped out. The eggs were quite delicious and for being the very first meal cooked it went quite nicely and even better than if I had used a nonstick skillet. The more and more I use this, the better and better and more nonstick this skillet will get. The skillet it well made for the price and the helper handle is a plus because it’s weighty.

Solid, simple, sugar skull skillet
It's a basic cast iron skillet that does everything you'd expect and nothing more. The initial factory seasoning is alright but not amazing - use some extra oil in the beginning until you get a nice sheen after some use. The art on the backside is surprisingly detailed. Overall it's great value and it has been a joy to cook with :D

Classic with cool designs.
Cast iron cookware is simply perfect and timeless. The quality of these for the price is amazing, and the only brand I trust. I have cooked so many dishes on this skillet, from savory to sweet. Clean it properly and keep it seasoned and it'll last your lifetime.

I LOVE this skillet. Exactly as description says. I love the decoration on the back. It's so cute when I hang it up. If you're wanting a decorative, quality cast iron skillet I highly recommend this one. It looks just as good as it works.
