Customer reviews

the best you can buy for this price range
This is one of the oldest, if not the oldest cast iron pan company in the USA. These are high quality cooking instraments that will likely last for the rest of your life if cared for properly. they come pre-seasoned....worth while to watch a You-Tube video and learn how to season a cast iron pan and season again (its really really easy to do). Also find a youtube on how to care for and wash the pan as rust stains may occur if not treated properly....but no worries, these things are built like tanks...if is rusts, just wipe the pan with a soap pad then oil /season again....like new.....if seasoned properly, it will have a natural "non-stick" surface....if it starts to stick again, season again.....youtube will explain it all... get ready for enhanced flavored foods and even cooking....great for steaks! I like the 12 inch best food for 2/3, but 10 inch is great for smaller tasks (food for 1/2) and 8 inch is good for even smaller tasks (small food for one....eg filet mignon, or a small ribeye).

Quality pans made in the USA at an affordable price
I am not an expert on cast iron, but I love these pans. I already have a Le Creuset, which I bought years ago when they were less than $100. I needed more pans and took a chance on Lodge based on the reviews. I have had them for just one month and enjoy using them. I use at least one of them daily. I still cook my eggs in the Le Creuset, but so far the Lodge pans are perfect for everything else. I did read it can take a while to season the pans for cooking eggs, so I am waiting a bit longer, which may not be necessary. The pans are easy to clean and seem to have seasoned well. Take good care of them and you can't go wrong with this set. I also bought a set of tools made by Lodge for cleaning and seasoning the pans and a chain mail scrubber. The Lodge set comes with a handle cover, which is an essential item for lifting a hot, heavy pan. All of these things are very useful in using and caring for the pans.

Cast iron skillets the way they should be
I never had a set of 3 skillets, and if a former roommate hadn’t ruined my last cast iron skillet I wouldn’t have a set of 3 today, but here we are. You want to buy this set because it is so much easier to keep them all cleaned and properly seasoned if you pick the right sized skillet for the job. I’ve taken to frying my tamales instead of steaming them (you must try this - 1-2 tbsp oil is all you need for up to 4 tamales) and the smaller skillet is the best. The large and medium sizes have their uses as well.

Fabulous Cast Iron skillets!
I made a conscious decision to rid my houses of teflon pans, and turned to the tried and true: cast iron. These cast iron skillets, which came in a set of 3, are, as expected fabulous. They were pre-seasoned (important as my beach house is a rental) and are easy and safe to use and care for. I still have my grandmother's cast iron skillet and soup pans, and 100 or more years later, they remain tried and true. Cannot recommend these enough. Solid, sturdy, easy to use and keep clean. 5 stars!
