Looks good in a book case too or bedside table. You can see the numbers but there is no light on clock for seeing numbers at night. The is no noticeable “ticking” sounds. Quiet.

Arrived on time in great condition. Just install one AA battery, set time, and it works. Keeps correct time. It is lovely, looks somewhat vintage without being too "fancy." Totally non-ticking! Large scale numerals allow you to place it anywhere in the room and still read it. I have not yet tried the alarm function. I highly recommend.
