Description
- Charmingly designed and perfectly approachable, here are eighty simple recipes for delicious, healthy food that require nothing more than a mug and a microwave. - For anyone who can’t cook, won’t cook, or doesn’t have the time to cook—but still wants a fresh, delicious meal instead of takeout or packaged, processed food when they’re eating alone—here is the answer. All you need for real food, really fast, is a large mug, a microwave, a handful of ingredients, and a spoon. - Whether you’re cooking in a pocket-sized apartment, a crowded dorm, or an office kitchenette, here are quick and clever recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks. Squeezing a home-cooked breakfast into your morning dash is no problem with Peanut Butter and Jam Porridge, Eggs Florentine with Hollandaise, or seed- and fruit-packed Breakfast Muffins. And no more sad office salad: whip up Spicy Lentil and Bacon Soup, Pea and Pesto Soup, and Shrimp Laska in the office kitchen for lunch, with a side of Honeyed Carrots or Garlicky Mushrooms! Chicken Korma, Thai Shrimp Curry, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Chili con Carne, and Sweet Potato and Chickpea Tagine make healthy, quick, and delicious dinners that easily trump overpriced takeout or preservative-laden frozen food. And mug baking is a piece of cake with Chocolate and Pistachio Brownies, White Chocolate and Lime Cheesecake, Berry Crumble, Sticky Gingerbread, and much more. Finally, don’t forget the more conventional (but no less delicious) mug treats: Ultimate Hot Chocolate, Mulled Cider with Ginger, and Vanilla Latte. Yum! - You will be in and out of the kitchen, cravings fully satisfied, in five minutes or less!

Excellent book, uses hard to find items, (but I google substitutions). Great tasting recipes.
I really like this book. I generally cook for two, in a 2 quart crock pot ( leftovers usually die of old age in my fridge). So far I have cooked eggs florentine with hollandaise, chocolate peanut butter cookie, and pancetta and dolce latte risotto ( with lots of substitutions for items I could not find in a regular store). I am amazed that something with rice can be cooked adequately in a microwave mug in 6 minutes, giving me a basis to freestyle more recipes that I will like What is not as good about the book was many of the items are more difficult to find, but I can’t argue with the excellent taste of a dinner for one in 10 minutes or less. I am defiantly not a fan of the texture of microwave baked goods, but I plan to use the recipes in my large toaster oven, baked at 25 degrees less, and 3-8 minutes less time ( I have several sets of tiny pans) . I will continue to make my way through the book, and I appreciate a good dinner with minimal time. I will continue to google substitutions for the items I can’t easily find. Best mug dinner book I’ve found so far. One star off for hard to find items like pancetta, dolcelatte, marscarpone, pine nuts, ras el hanout, harissa paste, crème fraiche, still is wonderful.

EGGS FLORENTINE WITH HOLLANDAISE
Oh My!!!! Hit me up with Eggs Florentine in the first few pages .... I'M IN !!! This is a perfect little book for cooking in a MUG. Author, Denise Smart ... is one SMART little cookie. Only 80 recipes, and I'm hoping for another book of 80 down the road. BACON & TOMATO MUFFIN ... WHAT? Oh yes, it's in here. Right down to EGG FRIED RICE ... Comfort food IN PORTION CONTROL ... WIN WIN!! I love this little book -- it will definitely be getting dog-eared over the coming days/weeks/months and years! As I pare down to a simpler life, this is my perfect companion and I hope SMART will come up with some more NEW recipes to keep the Portion Control going. The Egg Fried Rice will be a WINNER for me and I'll be able to cut my Schwan's man off paying dearly for this type of thing. The book is laid out nicely, one page recipe and photo too for a lot of them. Another perfect guide to the things you'll need including tools, pantry, fridge items & freezer!! IT'S GOT YOU COVERED. You got all that -- I'm ready to get cooking! THANKS DENISE SMART!

Love this book!
Had a lot of trouble my first year of college with the dining halls hours and lack of choices with food. This book has enough easy-looking recipes to change that this year! Plus it'll definitely be cheaper than all the take out I ordered lol
