Almost a 5 Star but I had to make modify something (also purchased ALARM)
OK, so my father is up there in age. This has caused some problems with his medications over the years. For at least 20 years I would pack his pills in those weekly pill boxes that said AM and PM and Sunday - Saturday. These were great when my dad was able to easily understand what day of the week it is. Now that he is not as mobile and spends a lot of time in bed, sometimes he forgets the day of the week and was taking pills from different days and sometimes forgetting to take pills at night or at different times all together. This was becoming a big Challenge and causing the wrong results for the purpose of taking the pills. So I ordered him this nifty pill reminder box set with Alarm. The first one arrived without the ALARM but that got worked out (Thanks to Amazon, not the seller) and I got the ALARM a week later. In the mean time I set up his pills and set up the Alarms. Even though it can do I think 4 ALARMS a day I chose to skip the mid day pill ALARM. I still had to set it but I could choose to not have the alarm go off. This was a concern when buying it because someone said they couldn't skip an alarm but in reality you can, you just have to set it still. So the first week my dad was taking them, he was a mess. I mean he did not get it at all. He would take the boxes out and not look at the numbers and just still take whichever he wanted. Sometimes I found the boxes on the other side of the room. Finally I explained again and again that there are numbers to match the date, the date on his watch or the clock or his phone. Something clicked. OK, now the other problem was from the laying in bed, he could not see the numbers on top. (Yes I know, this should not be a problem but he has decided lazy is his way and he doesn't want to put that much effort into taking pill). So I took my crafty labeler and not only made new numbers but had green and red tape so I could make it match as they do on the top. This could be done with red and green pen with any paper stuck or glued on but it made a world of difference. Now he takes them in a new routine, on time. If he forgets and the alarm goes off, he now takes them. Hardly any more missed pills still in the boxes when I go to re fill them. The nurses are amazed at the boxes to, nice and tidy set up and makes it easier to keep track of what he has taken or missed. The only reason I did not put 5 stars for easy to read is I wish they did make it so you can see it from the side. It is a large item full of pills. Most adult who are taking pills will put them up higher to keep away from kids or grandkids. So in not just for my dad but others I can see having to pull the entire item down to see the top of the boxes to make sure they are on schedule. I love the red and green though for when they are needed to be taken or have already been taken. Just couldn't see that before I marked them myself on the sides.

A simple design offering a solid solution
This product solves multiple problems in a simple way. 31 four chamber, plastic pill holders are filled with a day's worth of medications. The plastic holders look familar-they have four chambers, each chamber has a snap lid, and is labeled for the time of day: morning, afternoon, etc. Each individual daily holder has a day of the month stamped on each end. One end is red, one end is green. After they are filled, they are placed vertically in the med-center holder. We have the green ended number up and showing for days not yet used. When the day is over, we turn it over, placing the red ended number vertically in its place, indicating the pills have been taken. There is a simple, stand alone talking clock with timers that is placed in front of the unit, where one also places next to the clock, the plastic pill holder for that day. The space in front is labeled, "Today's pills" The clock itself is easy to set and use. There are raised slides on the back for setting time, timers, etc. On top of the clock are colored buttons. The green button, when depressed, speaks the day, date, and time. The red button is used to acknowledge and stop the speaking alarm, which speaks the action needed-"good morning, it's time for your morning pills" If you press the red button at anytime, it will speak the next time for medication you have set. There is a button that turns on the little light on the clock. The beauty is in the simplicity. One can set the speaking voice to loud, or extra loud. It's a good volume. The only possible drawbacks I could see are: The individual chambers have a snap lid that is snug. Those with serious arthritis or hand issues may find it tight. The chambers are standard size-if you take large vitamins, or tons of pills, space could be an issue. The clock-it is so simple and intuitive to set, but as with any clock, those with cognitive issues will likely require assistance in first setting it up. After it has been set-up, however, the user should find the large, colored buttons in front quite easy to use. I like that the clock is stand alone, and so is each individual day. My mom, really, can place the clock, and her daily plastic holder on the table next to her chair, and return the empty holder back to its slot at the end of the day. Or, she can leave both in their spot in front of the unit, forcing her to stand up to answer the clock, and take her pills. Well done on this product.

Best pain in the butt ever
Bought for my elderly mother who could not remember to take medications. We used to use the organizers that stated days of the week, but she would not know what day of the week it was. In short it was a big mess just barely better than nothing. This thing is spot on , however. The red/green color labels, date vs day, and the wonderful talking timer... It just works so well. Actually the talking timer is hard to understand, but Imade her live thru it for 2 weeks just to get used to the process. The beep alarm is sufficient. Now that she is used to the red "done", green "next" labels , we don't have to really know what day it is, but the LED gives her a visual cue in case of confusion. My mother curses the alarm on a daily basis, but we have not missed a single dose since we started using this system. WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE FOR THAT. The timer is fairly easy to set, I bought an ac adapter, but it is still running on the original batteries we started with, the alarm is set 4 x per day and frequently goes off for an hour or so before she wakes to hear it. I will probably never use the adapter unless I run out of batteries. BUT there is a huge downside for the one filling this organizer- all those little boxes have 4 separate, hard to open lids -I fill a month at a time; this takes an hour or so and a whole tabletop to do . Then if a script is changed, added or removed another hour for maintenance. We have had script changes 7 times in the past month This IS A PAIN , but it is worth it to me. But I've had lots experience with caregivers-friends & family, home health workers,etc.. and I have not encountered very many that would reliably provide the due dilligence to properly maintain this system. This is something you don't want somebody filling during commercials, or while in a hurry to get on to the next patient down the road. Just sayin'

this is a wonderful monthly medication organizer!!!!!!
Starting with 5 stars cause I like the organizer...although it took forever to set my meds up for a month. Iβm redoing my review cause I finally got the clock to set. So here goes. You need to set aside a good couple hours if you take a lot of meds and if you have morning and night to set up. Turn on the news or a good movie to have in the background. You need to go one medication at a time. Yes, itβs time consuming but after that...itβs a simple matter of grabbing the correct capsule and your meds are all set out for you. I REALLY like this feature. I use to have something similar but it was a lot larger. This isnβt. The biggest drawback I see is the capsule could be a bit larger. For instance calcium pills are HUGE and they need a lot of room. As does fish oil. I use the the noon setting for those. My nighttime meds fill the capsule...mostly because of the size of calcium pills. I use the dinner setting for my three me.atonin. All I have to remember is use the two settings for each time I need meds. All in all I do recommend this for anyone wanting to simplify their medications. I have days where I forget if I took them in the morning...and then I donβt take them just in case. Now Iβll know just by looking at the capsule. Plus I can use the feature that verbally reminds to take my meds!
