Real Camera. Fun Prints.
My daughter has had a MyFirst camera that prints on thermal paper and, although it was fun, it is clearly more of a toy than a camera. This InstaLux camera is actually a decent digital camera with working autofocus and a sensor that renders realistic colors with decent resolution. As a professional photographer I am thrilled that my seven year-old daughter likes to go on photo walks with me and can actually take meaningful pictures with this camera. It has some nice filters and a black and white mode to put a little flair in the images and she enjoys changing it up. The build quality is good even though it's fully plastic. I would realistically expect it to hold up to normal wear and tear short of a big drop on a hard surface. The back LCD is fairly clear but not mind blowing in this day in age. The controls are adequate but a little confusing for my daughter. She likes the wheel for cycling through photos or changing the filter setting. The printer and "film" cartridges are fun but they're not 100% hassle free. The first print jammed and it ruined the first two sheets of photo paper. These cartridges cost about $17 before tax for 10 prints so prints are almost $2 each. It's not that big of a worry for me because it's such a fun digital camera even without the printer. I have told my daughter to only print photos that she really loves and wants to mount on her photo wall. Overall the MyFirst InstaLux camera is wonderful. If you have a child responsible enough to take care of it, it will last a long time and it's a lot of fun. The prints are nice, the camera functions perfectly, and it's well built. It is pricey but it's a better experience for a child than an instant film camera, in my opinion (with nearly the same charm because of the good prints). Highly recommend.

Fun polaroid alternative
The myFirst camera has been a genuine hit in our house — and once you see that first photo being expelled and pulled back into the camera four or five times as the layers build, you'll understand why. It's fun to watch. It comes loaded with filters, eight fun frames, a built-in gallery, and a 4GB card that can hold about 1,000 photos. Prints are mini Polaroid-sized, and WiFi connectivity lets you print from your phone via the myFirst Circle app as an alternative to directly from the camera— best handled by an older teen or adult. Younger kids can take photos independently, but printing, WiFi setup, and attaching the carrying strap may need adult help. Comes with personalization stickers and a charging cord. The smooth housing is a bit slippery and sometimes difficult to hold onto. The replacement paper is proprietary — no generic refills available. The camera only includes 10 prints so you'll need to order more paper before any party or event, or you'll run out fast. While the camera seems durable enough, I'd keep it out of reach of toddlers who love to drop or throw things. I'm not sure it would stand up to being thrown. The camera looks good and I like the carrying strap. It seems a little overpriced, as does the replacement paper. Fun though!

Fun Camera for Kids and Quick Prints
I got this camera for my kids, ages 8 and 12, and they really enjoy using it. It is easy enough for them to use, and they like being able to take pictures and print them instead of just leaving everything on a phone. A good feature is the small memory card. They can take pictures and save them without printing every single one, then choose only the photos they actually want to print. The preview screen is helpful for the same reason because it lets them check the picture first before using the print paper. The color looks nice, and the camera feels suitable for kids without being too basic. The filters, frames, and flash give them more options to play around with, and the phone printing makes it useful for more than just taking pictures with the camera. It is portable, easy for them to handle, and a nice way for them to save small memories, make little projects, or print pictures for fun. For the features it offers, it feels like a good value and a fun camera/mini printer combo for kids and adults.

Such a cute camera!
I got this as a Christmas gift for my brother because he’s always been into cameras, and I know he’s really going to like it. It’s very simple to use, prints the photos instantly in color, and the quality is actually pretty good for a small camera. I also LOVE that it works as a mobile photo printer that’s something he’s definitely going to use a lot. The accessories are great too. The camera feels light but well-made, and the design is cute without looking childish (I love that)
