Giving Nespresso a second chance
This is my second Nespresso vertuo machine. Sadly, my first one (by De’Longhi) lasted only two years after going into the dreaded descaling death mode. But I loved it so much that I am trying again with this new version, the vertuo plus premium, this time the Breville model. Reviews I read indicated that Breville makes a slightly higher-quality machine. I won’t go into all the things a Nespresso does in this review; instead it’s just my first impressions and comparisons. It’s a gorgeous machine. It looks really sleek and pretty on my counter. Some reviewers say it’s too noisy, but it’s no different than my previous one-I wouldn’t call it “loud.” In fact I kind of like the heavy sound it makes as it brews. Aesthetically it’s top notch. Some things I’m not sure I like: the cup holder on my previous machine was a heavy steel base with a plastic drip tray. This machine’s is plastic and feels a little flimsy. Also, the manual lock/unlock lever is new to me, as my other one had an automatic lever I just pushed up or down and the machine did the work. Lastly, the water tank and discard container are surprisingly small. The water tank probably holds enough for two cups (?), so if you’re using it for more than one or two people, plan on refilling often, and emptying the discarded pods often. Hopefully the differences won’t have an impact over time. I’ll come back and edit this review if I have any issues to share in the future. So far, I’m loving this pretty machine and the delicious coffees I can make with no mess, almost no cleanup, at a fourth of the price of a coffee shop cup!

I absolutely love this Nespresso Vertuo Next machine! The coffee and espresso come out rich, smooth, and full of flavor with a thick crema every time. The Aeroccino milk frother is a huge bonus and makes delicious lattes and cappuccinos at home in just minutes. The Creamy White Dark Chrome finish looks beautiful on my counter and gives the machine a premium feel without taking up too much space. It heats up quickly, is easy to use, and the pod system makes mornings super convenient. I will say the machine can be a little noisy while brewing, but the quality of the drinks makes up for it. Overall, this is a great coffee maker for anyone who wants café-style drinks at home without the hassle of a full espresso setup.
