Restaurant Quality Dishes in One Pot (Albeit Many Different Kinds, Including a Pan or Two)
If you enjoy cooking real food with fresh ingredients, this book is great inspiration for weeknight cooking, and the tastes are impressive enough to serve to guests. We have a lot of what other reviewers called "expensive ingredients" on hand because we love to cook. It can cost good money to stock a kitchen well, but if you cook regularly you know that the money up front is well spent because it saves you money in the long run to cook the restaurant quality meals like those offered in this book. This book helps me use up the veggies from my CSA box, too, which is very satisfying! The recipes are simple enough that I can make good choices with what I have on hand, like subbing beet greens for green beans in the Chicken & Dumpling soup. I will admit that we amend the recipes toward our own tastes, such as roasting chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for the dumpling soup instead of adding raw chicken breast cubes. Using homemade stock is always tastier, too. We'll be making the Texas Red Chili for Superbowl, especially since it just won first place at the workplace Chili Cook-off! I've given this book as a gift to several friends who also use it regularly.

Perfect for working moms!
I have young kids and work long hours, however I have been able to make a bunch of home-made meals for the last two weeks, since I bought this book. I have already made at least 6 of the dishes in this book. The recipes are not complicated; every recipe has a picture so it really gives you an idea how the dishes will pan out. Most of the recipes contain ingredients that you have around most of the time (or you can easily replace), although you may need to update your spices (I did not have star anise at hand for the Asian chicken). The prep is quick, the instructions straight forward, and the dishes, oh so flavorful! One day, I left the "Poached Chicken with Asian Flavors" cooking in the crockpot. I texted my husband telling him that dinner was in the crockpot so he could go ahead and serve to the kids because I was going to be late. He texted back "I hope you didn't want any, it's all gone'. I thought he was joking but when I came back home he and my two kids ate the whole chicken! They even chew on the bones because the flavor of the broth had gotten into them and it was so good. Next day everybody took the broth for lunch. This book is worth every penny I paid for it.

Incredibly versatile. They could call it "One Book" - this could be the only cookbook you need.
This is my favorite cookbook of all time. There are so many recipes that I just keep coming back to over and over. There are so many things I like about the book but I think to capture it quickly: it really hits the sweet spot for me in terms of trading off time, ingredients, effort, and results. It doesn't rely on weird, hard to find, expensive ingredients to produce good tasting food. And it also doesn't ask too much of you as a chef. That doesn't mean these are all easy weeknight recipes. But where more time and effort is required, it feels worth it rather than unnecessarily fussy. And there is a real range here, including many recipes that I make on weeknights all the time. My favorites: Quinoa chicken and asparagus The mac and cheese (I've been told it's the best people have ever had) Curried chicken pot pie (my wife's all time favorite) Pork stew with asparagus (simply incredible) Apple tart (so easy) Blackberry clafouti

Great book to have!
Although this isn't what I was looking for (I recently purchased an electric pot & grill skillet), I can still utilize the recipes and figure out how to use the pot. There are plenty of recipes for me to go through and try out since I love to cook. I especially like the fact that most of the recipes have fewer ingredients than most others I've found. The fast turnaround in receiving this book was also great. This will be a good addition to my other cookbooks!
