Use caution being influenced by poor reviews

At this price point and $2 or less (depending on volume) replaceable blades this knife covers a gamete of practical uses. I spent some time reading the poor reviews on this knife and I can say I do not understand most of them. Its like some reviewers expect the performance of a $400 Bench Made M390 super steel blade. Sorry its a $2 razor blade; however, for the cost of a gas station cup of coffee, you have a new razor sharp blade in less than 5 seconds. With that said, I put my blades to honing sticks bring the blade to near new sharpness in a few seconds - the softer steel makes this possible and not not likely with hard more expensive steel blades. As expected the softer steel is not as good at keeping an edge; however, it is much easier and faster to bring the edge back to razor sharpness only using honing sticks. I have purchased a few of these knifes over the past 8 or so years and have not noticed any reduction in quality (one of the complaints from poor reviews). Perhaps they made better knifes before I started purchasing them; however, I am very satisfied with the quality at this price point including the new 3.5" clip knife I just received from Amazon a few days ago. I compared this new one with one I purchased almost 8 years ago and could not find any reduction in quality. I lost one - to bad - but who cares! I would rather have to replace this one than my $400 Bench made knife which is very sharp but is very difficult to sharpen and would be extremely financially painful to replace if lost or broken. I lost one of my Onyx 3.5" knife in the middle of a move (needing it for opening boxes because all of my other knifes were packed away) so I purchased the 2.5" version in a pinch. The 2.5" may not be good for hunting but it was perfect for opening moving boxes. Its smaller size was great for every day use fitting much smaller in your pocket. For skinning game I use my 3.5" sheath version. The sheath has a separate pocket that can store several extra blades allowing you to replace blades without having to sort through your hunting supplies. As for some of the other poor reviews, I have never experienced loose or falling out blades, blades opening in my pocket, or clips falling off or failing to keep my knife in my pocket. I did have the thumb screw fall off on the first one I purchased; however, I contacted the company and they promptly replaced it without question at no cost. I have had no further issues with this on any of the other knifes I purchased from Outdoor Edge. I can't say for sure but perhaps Outdoor Edge has improved the use of loctite on the thumb nut threads. Perhaps some of the issues (noted in poor reviews) were caused by damage during use; if so, who cares - just buy another one. I could purchase 15 of these knifes for less than my Bench Made knife. For only $26 (less for the 2.5" version) this the perfect every day knife that that you never have to worry about it braking, becoming dull, loosing, giving away, or loaning to a friend. I gave one to a friend that opened boxes all day as part of his job. He was so happy because not only did he have a very good box opening knife he also had a great pocket knife for every day use. You may never empress a knife collector but I think you will defiantly impress yourself!

Excellent pocket knife

If you carry a pocket knife, part of the responsibility is to keep the knife sharp. I remember when I used to spend an hour sharpening my blade in order to keep its functionality and prevent accidents from occurring. Have you ever attempted to cut something with your dull knife, only to have it jump the cut and get you in the finger or hand? Terrible. This Outdoor Edge Onyx EDC OX-10 sports a 3.5" blade that is removable. I can safely describe it as a knife that actually is a razor. The blades are sturdy razors. The knife holds the blades very securely and provides for one-handed manipulation. When your blade dulls, simply pop the blade free and replace it with a fresh one. The body of the knife is sturdy and provides a grip surface for secure handling. You DO NOT need a sheath. The knife body has a built-in clip. As you hold the knife, as you normally would, and with the blade in the closed position, simply rotate your hand toward your front right pocket, the back of your thumb nail against where the pocket watch pocket would normally be on a pair of jeans, and clip the knife to your pocket for easy and secure storage and reach. The bottom line is that this knife is affordable, functional, easy to maintain and very handy. I don't go anywhere without mine. Update: my thumb bar came loose and fell off. I went to the Outdoor Edge main website (not on Amazon) and put in a warrant request. They shipped me TWO thumb bars to replace my lost one. Easy to install, just slip the male end in through the blade holder and screw on the opposing side. I dabbed a bit of Lock-Tight thread locker on mine before tightening them down. Just one more thing to praise about this knife and this company. Excellent product. Excellent customer service. I added a few photos of my knife prior to installing the replacement thumb bar. It's not all pretty and brand new any longer but it's with me all the time.

Perfect for me.

I can't say enough about this knife. This is my second one, I had one that I hadkept for the longest time and had to toss it in the trash at the airport because I forgot to pack it in my luggage. Yes it was a sad day. Razor edge that stays sharp for a long time. (unless you abuse it then it dulls like any other knife.) Not heavy but has a comfortable grip in my had when I need to use it. It would be extremely hard for me to purchase a different kind of knife now I that I have found this one for a good price.
