Tight fitting lid and lightweight.
Much, MUCH lighter than a cast iron one n easier for this old gramma to lift n cook with in the stove n on the burner. I don’t have to be afraid I can manage it by myself. Do everything one of those 60-70$$priced ones with the fancy names does. I’ve browned ribs n oxtails in it, browned a pot roast, fixed spaghetti for 12, fried fish perfectly!,made baked potatoes for a crowd with all the fixings, made soup in it, made stew in it, made a cobbler in it. There’s not a week goes by I don’t use it to cook something in it. Very versatile and useful to me anyway. And it doesn’t weigh a ton for this fragile grandmother to pick up!! With its scratch proof coating inside a quick swish with a soapy cloth is all that’s needed ( or put it into the dishwasher for cleaning. Game changer!!

Sourdough Dutch Oven that will blow your mind!
Ok… So when it comes to Dutch Ovens for Sourdough I’ve been a bit of a snob. We know who the high price brands are and they have the reputation to back it up… and along comes this fellow. I’ve spent more for a bag of flour than the HRV ( Homely Red Vessel) which I now affectionately call him. He’s for sale on Amazon but also comes in a kit which is how he came into my life. My son bought the kit and this aluminum no frills Dutch oven has matched or performed the competition ( and I’ve set him up for failure). If you don’t have one, and I’m guessing you don’t, do yourself a favor. He’s the go to for any new dough combinations I’m trying because you’re going to get the best outcome. I wish they made him in another color but he’s a standout in red for sure.

Love this Dutch oven. However, this is NOT cast iron Dutch oven. This means the material is different but it is very light to lift! I hsve had it about a month and my food does not stick, cooks through properly and over leaves anything I cook juicy. I have made soup, veggies, different proteins, and nothing sticks. My mom even started using it and she is a religious stainless steel cook. Highly recommend it if you cook different types of foods, and enjoy easy cleaning pots
