It's so cliche, but this deck helped me reconnect with my parents.
Bought this deck with the intention of playing with my aging parents when I went to visit them. Set aside time to play with each of them separately. My mom was very happy to let me just ask questions from the deck, with the Chinese side being really helpful when the English was too complex for her to understand. My dad wanted us to alternate, each asking the other a card. Either way is fine, it's mostly just to stoke conversation that goes beyond the real basics of "How are you doing?" I ended up recording the conversations and really getting to find out some things from my parents. Even got an apology from my mom for what she felt was substandard parenting. (As an Asian-American, I think that's on the top 10 list of things never heard from parents, so color me impressed.) My mom also told me later that she really was happy that we used the cards and that she was very touched by it. In short, well worth it.

Cards are well made. The questions are fairly thought provoking but not controversial - this is a good balance for “traditional” relatives who won’t appreciate spicy questions. As an American Born Chinese (ABC) I’ve been looking for ways to start conversations with my grandparents so this is exciting. I have not played with them yet so I can’t vouch for the Chinese translation being accurate in context though.

I purchased this deck of cards for my boyfriend and his family. His parents fled Vietnam during the war and it was a great way to learn about their stories. It bought the family closer and his dad absolutely loved the game. I highly recommend purchasing this and playing with your family and friends. Worth every penny.

Great conversation starters
Wanted to order directly from the website but shipping was too long -- this came just in time for a trip. Really loved the prompts, and the Tagalog was great. Opened the door to great stories I never heard from elders. I guess I just never knew what questions to ask! Highly recommend.
