Nice pen
Love this pen a lot. It’s been my go to until today because I need to get to rotating my pens so they don’t dry out. But this is the first one I reach for. It doesn’t have a clip on the cap. My highest pen purchase was $60 so I can’t compare these to a pricy pen but I like it a lot. It’s not scratchy and of course the smiley face on the nib is a nice touch. It’s not a fat pen but it’s not thin either. I can’t write with thin pens because they make my hand cramp pretty quickly. This is smaller than the fat pens I have. Unless you have an extra small or extra large hand, you should find this a comfortable pen. They seem to be in limited supply right now. I’ve searched several pen shops in hopes of finding all the other colors. The white one is the only one I haven’t been able to find at all. Mine is a fine tip and seems pretty accurate. I’ll try an ef for the next one and see if it is as smooth. This is not “buttery” but it’s pretty smooth. Very little scratching and only when I accidentally turn the pen a bit. No problems with leaking or skipping. It starts up easily even when I haven’t used it for a few days.

My favorite everyday fountain pen: penmanship perfection!
The Kakuno feels surprisingly premium for its price, especially in how the nib performs compared with many budget pens. The pen is light but not flimsy, so long writing sessions stay comfortable without hand fatigue. The triangular grip section naturally guides your fingers into a relaxed, correct position, which makes it easy to “find your flow” without overthinking your hold. Pilot’s steel nib on the Kakuno is smooth, reliable, and far more refined than many similarly priced pens. It starts up without fuss, doesn’t easily skip, and handles different inks with the perfect. combination of smoothness and feedback.

Cute, smooth, and way better than expected
I bought this as a simple everyday pen and ended up loving it way more than I thought I would. The fine nib writes really smoothly and consistently without skipping or scratching and it is perfect for small handwriting. The design is honestly part of the charm. The soft blue color feels calm and aesthetic, and the little smiley face on the nib is such a small detail but makes it feel fun to use. For the price, this is such a great value. It writes as well as pens that cost way more, which surprised me. You can tell Pilot knows what they’re doing with their nibs

My favorite
My go-to for years! Love love the color of this one too. Write soooo well and is so lightweight so I can hold it for an entire journaling session (unlike my heavier metal ones). I got a converter to put my own ink in, but it’s also easy to use the capsule inks. Love the size and design and it’s great value! Probably the greatest value fountain pen I’ve found- this pen has never skipped once!
