Genuine silk, no question; Dusk color is gorgeous

First, if you saw the review by Justin H. claiming that he tested a Promeed pillowcase for silk content with a burn test and it failed, I need to direct your attention to his photos, which clearly show he actually did his testing on a KITSCH brand polyester satin pillowcase. Hopefully that disinformation will be removed sometime soon. I can't believe 55 people clicked "Helpful" without noticing the prominent brand tag in the photos! That said, read on for some accurate info about this pillowcase. :) I've had several Promeed silk bedding products in my wishlist for quite some time, due to their prices and the hard-to-find colors they call Dusk and Gold. I've just ordered and received their standard-size pillowcase in Dusk, to sort of check out the quality before ordering any more. ***Update on the Dusk color: It actually looks pretty different it different kinds of lighting, and while I wouldn't say it's a 100% exact match for the product images, it's very close in daylight. The positives: It's unquestionably made from genuine, natural silk, and exhibits all of the characteristics of real silk; the fabric is a very fine charmeuse (fine satin) weave and feels very silky-soft; the zipper closure is the invisible type, and is a very close match to the color of the silk (not white as some brands use); the sizing is accurate at 20.5"x26"; the fabric edges on the inner seams are serged to prevent fraying; and the company included a free, nice-quality mesh washing pouch and a swatch of the silk fabric for burn testing. The negatives: The silk fabric seems a little thin to me for 23 momme - I have no way to verify the momme count, but my 22 momme silk pillowcases from THXSILK feel about the same; the seams are not French seams, which are the most durable type for silk (but the price would be higher if they were); and while the Dusk color is a lovely muted autumn leaf or pumpkin shade, it is not the vibrant reddish sunset orange shown in all of the product images - it's more of a slightly brownish orange, so it doesn't quite match the SDH Legna lyocell sheet set I bought it for. General notes on silk pillowcases: They're made from protein (because that's what silkworm cocoons are made of), which is what makes them so great for human hair and skin, which are also made of protein. But it also means you'll need to use a washing product that isn't formulated to dissolve protein. Either a silk/wool wash, such as Eucalan or Soak, or an oil-free body wash will work great. Handwashing is best - just soak in cool to warm soapy water for 5-10 minutes, swish gently but well, rinse cold, hang to dry (don't wring or squeeze, just gently roll in a towel if you need to speed up the drying time). I'll be using the nice mesh bag that was included for other delicates, because I never put my silk in the washing machine. Shades of orange are hard to find in silk pillowcases, so I'm really glad I found this one, though also sad that Promeed is discontinuing it due to low sales! The fabric thickness isn't much of an issue for me, since I take really good care of my silk, and it does have an especially silky feel. I will very likely be checking out the Gold color soon.

I just received my pillowcase and at first blush, it looks great. As a former fabric buyer who has purchased millions of metres of silk charmeuse, yes- this is the real deal. This is most certainly a hefty 23 momme silk charmeuse. A beautiful sheen with no flaws. I see reviews complaining about wrinkling. People need to be aware that like linen and cotton, silk is a natural textile and DOES wrinkle. KEY HINT - Although silk softens a bit with proper laundering care, if it does not wrinkle at all, congratulations-you most certainly have a cheap synthetic/ polyester satin product! Another key hint- to have this product last, wash very gently (I will hand wash). DO NOT put in a dryer. Hang to dry until just slightly damp, then use iron set at a low temp to finish the drying and to get a luxurious smooth finish. If you don't have the patience to care for a luxurious natural silk pillowcase and enjoy the benefits, don't waste your money on these- just buy a cheap polyester pillowcase you can dump in the washer & dryer. This gem that nature gives us deserves so much more than that! Having been disappointed with cheaper, thinner silk pillowcase purchases in the past, I am very pleased with this product.

1 week in. I may as well add my review. Colour: Navy Blue. Pillow Size: Standard Yes, it is genuine mulberry. I have used cotton pillowcases all my life. I am a guy who has curly and delicate fine hair, prone to breakage and snagging so I looked for some natural silk pillowcases and came across this listing. One week in and I have noticed differences. While still frizzy, I wake up with less of it. I find it easier to brush my hair in the morning. Just in general, I wake up with less bed hair! It also took me awhile to get used to these pillowcases since I have used cotton all my life. They are indeed very soft, the grip is perfect so your head wont slide everywhere and it does breathe! I recommend getting these with some silk pjs for maximum comfort. If you wanna go the extra mile, use a mulberry scrunchie and put your hair back before bed. If you are prone to acne and have delicate hair like me, I suggest these pillows especially if you happen to live in a humid environment. Great quality for the price!

Real silk, real amazing❤️

I have bought a couple of their pillow cases and just did a burn test on the actual pillow seem, they are indeed 100% silk, high quality and long lasting. Soft and comfortable, nice and cool, great for skin and hair, sleep quality. They are a little slippery like all silk, its just part of having silk sheets and 100% worth it, no big deal. They protect your hair and silk is just better for the environment and all around the best🤣❤️ So theres a lady saying because she has static in her hair after she vigorously runbed the things they aren’t silk- simple google search: Yes, if you rub silk vigorously against your hair, it can still generate static electricity. While silk is naturally anti-static compared to synthetics, it is not a "magic" material that is completely immune to the laws of physics.
