Very cool. I like the groovy vintage look out of the 60s. Old school meets new school technology. Definitely an off-white ivory when you put a bright white object next to it. The big chrome grooved handle is something definitely out of an early 50s diner. The site glass on the back side makes it easy to see how much water you put in. Also has a clearly marked minimum and maximum water level. The temperature gauge is a nice bonus and decorative with its big polished outer ring. One discrepancy in the advertisement. It mentions a clear transparent lid. The one I received came with a solid lid, but has a very nice trim ring so I am completely happy. It has a clear acrylic tab under the water level site. This is the on-off switch. Push it down, it lights up and turns the kettle on. When it reaches boiling temperature automatically shuts off. I tried out how fast it heats water. I have very cold water and filled the kettle to the half full measurement. Then timed it from ice cold to when the automatic switch shut off at boiling temp. Took seven minutes. This kettle not only looks great. but fits in perfect with my other retro kitchen appliances.
