Fantastic Heated Mug on a Budget, Really Works!

WOW. I am actually impressed with this little heated mug! This is perfect for anybody who prefers a hot beverage (vs lukewarm), or a busybody like a mom! A more budget-friendly version of the ember, this would make a fantastic addition to your home if you enjoy a hot beverage (and like it hot the whole time, not just for the first few minutes of making it), or as a gift for someone who does! I like the design, I like that it comes with two different lids (a fully closed one, and one that lets you sip). I also like that you can control the temperature of it, and it's not just either on or off (like cheaper cup warmers). It's the perfect size, genuinely keeps the drinks warm, and is very versatile! I also tested it with my phone's thermometer, and it showed that the coffee stayed approx 1-3° F within what the display was showing (noting that I didn't drink my coffee while I was testing it, as I didn't want to impact the conditions which would change the results). The caveats of this product are that it will only charge if the mug is sitting on the base (so if you put down the mug and forget to put it on the base, it will not continue heating). Another caveat is that the mug itself is not dishwasher safe. This is a minor inconvenience if you are used to putting your dishes in a dishwasher, but if you don't have one at home this won't inconvenience you. The third inconvenience is that the temperature is only in Fahrenheit, and cannot be changed to Celcius. If you are familiar with Fahrenheit (which is typically mostly used in the US), this will also not a concern to you. However, if you are not familiar and use Celcius, you will need to learn how hot the temperatures are in Celcius so you know what to set the base to warm to. Overall, I would actually really recommend this over a regular mug (continuous heating), thermal mug (which can seep heat or retain heat too well causing you to burn your tongue), and a more expensive version of this mug (the Ember), as it does a great job and stays within the budget.

I have tried a few heated mugs over the years and most of them ended up being gimmicky or inconsistent. This one immediately stood out because it feels well built and thoughtfully designed. The stainless steel mug feels solid in the hand, the display is clear, and the touch controls are responsive without being overly sensitive. It feels like a proper appliance rather than a novelty. This mug has a genuine Canadian safety certification, which I actually took the time to verify. That matters a lot with something that sits plugged in on a desk for hours at a time. The base stays cool, the power supply operates within reasonable limits, and the automatic shutoff adds another layer of confidence when life inevitably pulls you away mid coffee. Performance wise, it does what it claims as long as you understand how it works. With the lid on, it holds drinks right around 150F, which is ideal for slow sipping. With the lid off, it settles closer to the mid 120s, which is still warm but clearly shows how much the lid matters. Heat retention is respectable even after unplugging, with a gradual and predictable drop rather than sudden cooling. This is not a mug for everything.
