Everything was well protected but also easy to remove and assemble. yes you have to assemble the platter (follow the instructions for that little red tape arrow!) and the lid, and then make your wired connections. Or don't...the Bluetooth feature is great! Pros? The turntable itself is simplistic and easy to use. The fully automatic start/stop button couldn't be easier. Put your record on, press the button, and it takes care of everything. It's also nice looking in all black, with no disco ball effect around the platter. Just a fully clean look. Quiet too, with very little, if any noise coming from the mechanics. Sony's marketing says the internals are high quality. I have no way to test that, but I don't doubt it either. This thing is smooth. Cons? There is no 78 rpm option. This is probably OK for 99% of the users. Some people would say that you want to have customizable counterweight and anti-skate controls. I'm not one of those people who want to tinker with it. There is no Reverse or pitch control, which shouldn't matter unless you're a club DJ. I do wish there were some tone controls but, you're getting the raw sound of the vinyl the way the producer intended, good or bad. But it's the Bluetooth that's the game changer.
