Customer reviews

Great, sturdy bird feeder. Attracts mainly finches and downy woodpeckers with minor adjustments.
Very nice bird feeder. Well-built and looks great - Nice weight to it. Slightly on the heavier side given the metal shell. The thick paint coating (nice deep green) should definitely hold up against the elements and prevent rust. Perches - Larger than most tube bird feeders / will allow larger birds (grackles, starlings, mourning doves) to easily feed from it. One of any of these birds is not heavy enough to trigger the anti-squirrel spring mechanism. No more mourning doves with minor adjustments - The perches fold up, but they don’t lock into the upright position so larger birds can easily knock them back down. To remedy this, I removed the bottom two perches (removable) and tied back the top four perches (not easily removable without tools) with elastic bands, so now only smaller birds - finches and downy woodpeckers (primarily) (safflower seeds / Boston area) and grackles and starlings (occasionally / briefly) feed from it. No more mourning doves! They were scaring away the smaller birds and robbing me blind of bird food, so I’m happy they’re back pecking on the ground full time. Easy to refill by pulling up on the top cap / attached wire – easier still with a funnel (I just cut a hole in the bottom of a 16 oz. Solo cup) given the tube design. Seed stays dry. Easy to clean – I remove the top and bottom (the locking pin on the bottom only depresses on one side, so you have to tug at it a little to remove it), dunk the feeder in a bucket of soapy water a couple of times, scrub it a bit, then rinse. No issues cleaning it of any dirt, debris or seed. Squirrels? No comment. I don’t get them, although the spring mechanism seems sensitive enough that a squirrel would trigger it. Great value overall - Great quality at a mid-tier price. Glad I didn’t go for a cheaper, all plastic tube feeder.

The squirrels cannot figure this one out. The birds love it!
There are a lot of squirrels that try this out, and fail daily. The birds love it. It has paid for itself in bird food savings alone now the squirrels aren't emptying the feeder daily. This is very attractive and works well. When the next model comes out I am hoping for a bigger feed tube, just because I am Clusty. The feed tube works well and I have ordered a second one for another variety of food. I had tried a less expensive brand with similar design, but the mechanism for closing when squirrels go on it didn't work properly, so i returned it and ordered a second one of these.

Very nice birdfeeders, and they are squirrel proof.
These birdfeeders are awesome, bought 2. they are easy to load. We have a lot of squirrels that have tried to get into it, and they just fall down. Granted the pole the birdfeeders hang from are not a wide pole, more just a steel pole. The birds come in droves, with as many as 6 or 7 birds at the same time feeding. We go through a lot of seeds, so we mainly use the Black sunflower seeds, and the woodpeckers love it, as well as the finches and cardinals.

Exactly what I wanted
This bird feeder is perfect. I bought it to keep the pigeons from hogging all the bird seed. It works perfect. The pigeons are unable to get seed when sitting on the perches. They automatically close up when too much weight is on them. It holds a lot of seed and is easy to clean and refill. I highly recommend it.
