Customer reviews

Key highlight: super smooth paper!
OK this journal surprised me! I was immediately impressed by the quality of the exterior of the binding. Its neat and tidy construction begs of something more expensive. The cover is thin, but sturdy. The pages of the notebook are sewn signatures, not glued. And the book lays quite flat for having a stiff spine. The pages aren’t curled at all. And the paper feels sooooo silky smooth. My fountain pen glides along the paper really easily. I tested it out with a few different pens/markers/ink. It did quite well with the exception of the parallel pen. But it takes a pretty special paper to stand up to the parallel pen. On the back of the page, there is some ghosting, but I’m surprised the sharpie didn’t ghost more. I thought I would see how it held up to some light watercolor, and it does well. Some of the pigment sloughed off of the page, but I can’t tell if I closed the journal before the pigment was totally dry, or if friction rubbed it off. The ruler lines are 7mm apart with little tick marks across the top and bottom lines in case you want to make a grid after-the-fact. There’s a back pocket for loose papers and an elastic band to hold the journal closed. All of the materials are really nice. I love that there’s no prominent branding on the journal besides the “SUIN” logo that’s very faintly debossed in the bottom right-hand corner. I figured I’d try to see if the cover foils well at all as this lends itself great for gift-giving. And it does! It’s got a faint texture, making it only a little tricky to keep a smooth line, but overall the foil adhered nicely to the cover. I’ll be purchasing more for gifts in the future.

Nice notebooks - comparable to those with a big brand name I also own
I’ve been using this notebook every day for about two months now, mostly for work, and it’s impressed me more than I expected. The paper is fantastic—it handles all kinds of pens and gel ink cleanly with no bleeding or distracting ghosting, which already puts it on par with, and in some cases better than, what I’ve gotten from Moleskine notebooks. The A5 size strikes a good balance between portability and usable space. It fits easily in a bag but doesn’t feel too cramped once you open it up. The faux leather cover feels durable and slightly textured, with enough structure to protect the pages and to write while being held. I’ve carried it around daily and it still looks clean and professional. Small details like the elastic closure, ribbon bookmark, and inner pocket are all perfectly fine and match what you'd get from the other brand. Overall, this notebook is great for people who actually write a lot. If you’re used to Moleskine, this will feel immediately familiar, but with a much lower price tag. Can you tell the difference between the two in my photo? Didn't think so. Easily and highly recommended!!

Surprised by quality
Quality was surprising for the price. Perfect for my work needs, no ink bleeding, pages are heavy even though to rip out. Coworker bought one too after checking mine out. Would and did recommend
