Not a butler, but makes good coffee
This will not turn itself on at 5:57 AM on Wednesday morning, keep your coffee hot, grind your beans, iron your shirts, or draw your bath. If you want that, hire a butler. What this does do is make a darned good cup of hot coffee in a quick amount of time. The footprint on this is tiny, which is a requirement in my studio apartment with it's 34" x 27" of counter space. The water volume tank is easily filled and clearly measured, so if you try to put more water in than your cup will hold, the spillage is your fault. I'm not having any sputtering problems. It's easy to access the coffee area. The water is hot enough unless you prefer burned-tasting coffee. I don't buy the individual serving cups, but I do buy the disposable filters by Perfect Pod and use them inside the metal filter to avoid sediment. Using 1.5-1.75 T of coffee in the filter with 8 oz water makes a rich and sturdy cup and doesn't overflow the paper filter, so you can just tip the metal basket into the trash and not have one ground to clean up. You can use more grounds if you don't mind cleaning the basket. I enjoy the ritual of making the coffee, so making the cups one at a time isn't a down side for me. On to the first world problems people seem to have. Yes, it drips. Never met one that didn't. There's no drip tray. But I'll bet you've got paper towels or a washcloth or a fancy paper doily you can put beneath the mug to catch that drip. If you're old enough to drink coffee, you're old enough to figure this out. If you put in 12 oz of water and a 10 oz mug, it will overflow. Your mug cannot be larger than 3.5" across and 5.25" high. If you want 20 oz of coffee, make two 10 oz cups (or a 12 and an 8 -- do the math) and pour them into your monster mug. Or stop drinking so much coffee; it's bad for you and it costs way too much money. Listen to Mom. Put that money into savings, along with everything you save by not buying avocado toast or fancy coffee drinks at coffee shops. Soon you'll be a millionaire. But I digress. You cannot set it for a dark or a light brew, you have to adjust the amount of coffee to water. So buy this inexpensive coffee maker that makes a good cup of coffee. You're still going to have to clean beneath the drip tray in one that costs more. And remember -- you've come so far from having to perk coffee in the metal basket on the stove for 20 minutes, which actually made wonderful coffee and made the house smell yummy, plus you had to develop the ability to delay gratification until it was ready. It built character. Ah, for the days of bacon and eggs and percolated coffee...

Cute, small, but functional!
This little Tastyle coffee maker is small, cute, but functional. I only wish I'd discovered it before I bought an Aeropress as the Aeropress not only cost me more, but was a pain to use and often left a lot of coffee grounds all in my cup. I live where I can't have a regular sized coffee maker so having something I can easily store is a big positive. I do use a paper filter since it helps not only to keep grounds out, but for cholesterol reasons, as paper filters are suggested for those with high or borderline cholesterol or who are just concerned about their numbers staying lower. I be sure to wet the paper filters first. The brand I chose was 1-2 Cup Small Coffee Filters,100 Count Disposable Basket Coffee Filter Paper, Compatible with Kalita Wave Dripper 155 Series, and though they are a little big for the tiny filter that comes with the machine, they fit in just fine. I ran a few cycles of water before first use. Simply plug it in, add water to your desired cup contents amount (I use 10 oz and that makes a perfect cup for my coffee cup size), put your coffee mug/cup on the tray, add coffee in the coffee filter to your desired amount though they do have a suggestion (don't overfill), and press the start button. Wait a few seconds for it to begin brewing. After it begins to brew, it doesn't take long--maybe five minutes or so--to have a cup of hot coffee - and it is hot! I have had zero grounds in my coffee - but again, I use a paper filter inside their included filter. It's so easy to make a second cup if you prefer more than one, as I do. This is small enough to fit in a narrow cabinet. After I finish my coffee, I let it cool, then wipe it all out thoroughly -- I wash the filter after disposing the paper filter and coffee in the compost pot, and then I store it away. Very easy to clean. I hope this little coffee maker lasts because it's perfect for my needs. My coffee taste good - no bitterness. The first cup or two there was a slight plastic taste but that went away. The coffee maker does make a bit of a whine noise but it's so low that it doesn't bother me at all. There may sometimes be water splatters but it's not much and I just wipe those up--it doesn't happen every time. When you let the filter cool and then take it out, some water may drip onto the plate (this is not a hot plate as it's for only one cup), but I wipe that up--doesn't bother me. I ordered this on Black Friday deal but I would have paid full price for it considering how well it is working out for me.

This coffee maker works great and makes a tasty cup of coffee. 2 minor critiques: after the light stops flashing indicating your cup is ready to drink, the machine still drips a little onto the plate. Also, the handle for carrying the machine rests right at the water level window. So when pouring in the water, you’ll have to lift the handle to see how much water you’ve added. Conclusion, still a fast, delicious cup of coffee and worth the price.

This little coffee maker is great! The temperature of the water 168 degrees F. The coffee was strong and hot. Easy to use. Makes great tea too. Brewing is great and only 11 sec to coffee or tea coming out nice and hot. Very quiet. Cute little coffee maker and space-saving is perfect for small kitchen counters. Black matches my other appliances.
