Description
New York Times Bestseller A delicious collection of classic, midwestern comfort food and family recipes updated with modern spins and ingredients―from one of Instagram’s favorite farmers, Kaleb Wyse. When Kaleb Wyse started documenting his daily life on his farm in Iowa, he didn’t think many people would take notice or even care. After all, his way of life is simple, guided by the seasons―he spends his days gardening, preserving, baking, and cooking, a rhythm not all that different from that of his parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents who worked the land before him. But it turns out that people from all over the country (and even the world) connected with Kaleb’s simple, back-to-basics way of living, and fell in love with his hearty, homestyle cooking. From casseroles to biscuits, his simple recipes hit the sweet spot of nostalgia for some―and are a breath of fresh air for others. In his debut cookbook, Kaleb shares his midwestern family recipes, updated for the way we eat today:Overnight French Toast Stick Casserole Cornmeal Pancakes with Blackberry Sauce Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Spiced Apricot Glaze Caesar Roasted Brussels Sprouts Roasted Zucchini, Dill, and Feta Dip Honey Dijon Three Bean Salad Rhubarb Custard Pie Bars From breakfasts and main courses to side dishes and desserts, the timeless food in this cookbook will appeal to every generation. Kaleb’s philosophy behind his recipes is simple: the dishes must be reminiscent of those prepared by his mom, grandmas, or even great-grandmas; the ingredients have to be readily available in his southeastern Iowa grocery stores (meaning that they’d be available for pretty much anyone else); and the end result needs to be no-nonsense and taste amazing. This delightful farm-to-table cookbook is a reminder that it’s ok to slow down and keep it simple in the kitchen―the result with Kaleb’s recipes will always be comforting, classic, and delicious.

Fantastic everyday cookbook!
Haute cuisine this is not! But what it is is an excellent collection of family recipes improved upon updated and made relevant for today’s table. Everything in the cookbook that I have made has been tasty and guests have really enjoyed the dishes. If you’ve never watched. Wyse Guide on Instagram or Facebook. I highly encourage you to look Kaleb up. He’s incredibly engaging and that comes through in the cookbook as well. Each recipe is crafted with passion and excellence and comes out well if you follow the directions. I tend to be the kind of person to add my own flare and touches to things that I cook and these recipes also lend themselves very well to that style of cooking. I truly hope you’ll Buy this cookbook. It has my highest endorsement. Once again, it’s not a Tom Colicchio cookbook, or a French laundry cookbook, or even a Michael Symon cookbook, but it is incredibly approachable and your family will love the food.

A cookbook you’ll actually use!
I love everything about this cookbook. First of all, couldnt be prouder to see a cookbook by a fellow IOWAN! It is so much more than a cookbook, though. It is a tribute to the simple joys found in preparing a delicious meal with nutritious ingredients. It is also a testament to the power of family traditions. Kaleb shares his memories with these recipes and what a blessing that is. Not everyone has the privilege of growing up in a loving family but you can use these recipes to create your own sense of family/friend connection. Kaleb’s recipes are very approachable, not intimidating at all. (I’ve had it a week and already made three recipes.) Kaleb’s warmth jumps off the pages, just like his Instagram account (@wyseguide). When you open this cookbook, you can almost hear him say, “well, HELLO friends!” 10/10 recommend.

The recipes look flavorful - and he included pictures of his Mom : )
I am one of those people that loves to read cookbooks. I thought Kaleb's cookbook looked interesting so I added it to an order that I was hoping would arrive before Christmas. The order made it here just in time - of course - it's Amazon! As I was quickly scanning the book I saw a recipe for Roasted Broccoli and Cauliflower salad that looked easy and had a very tempting picture of the finished dish. I made it the next day for our Christmas dinner! His instructions are clear and concise, and it turned out perfectly! I have bookmarked a number of things that I will be making in the next few weeks. Nice little cookbook.

A Cookbook I’ll Keep Coming Back To
I absolutely love this cookbook. I’ve had it for about a year now and have made so many recipes from it that I’ve really enjoyed. I also have his Christmas cookbooks, and honestly, I’ll buy anything Caleb puts out. There’s such a nostalgic, warm feeling throughout, and on top of that, the recipes are genuinely amazing.
