I feel safe using this pad after other brand pad burst into flames
I love this heating pad. Works good for chronic neck pain (herniated discs), but I use it primarily as a bed-warmer on cold nights before I get into bed and then all night as I sleep to drape across my torso (if on my back) or my side (if on my side), and it keeps me super toasty all night. I'm back after about a year, because I'm buying a second one to place under the covers near my feet at night. The first one is still heating up and holding heat fine and in good condition. Right before buying the first one, though, the other brand pad (I don't recall which brand) I had before actually burst into flames in my microwave, so I was very afraid to buy another microwaveable heating pad (it didn't help that I was already previously pyro-phobic!), and it seems like I read a zillion reviews before buying this one. But I'm happy to leave this 5-star review in case there are other people like me who have had a bad experience in the past with microwaveable heating pads. I feel safe using this particular heating pad and am very happy that it's still for sale so that I can buy another one.

One day I woke up with such a tight "crick" in my neck I couldn't turn my head the slightest in any direction without winching pain. For several days I tried home remedies such as massage and muscle relaxation. When these had no effect I tried using this for moist heat before a rescheduled doctor visit. I immediately noticed significant pain relief. (reheating after it cooled to continue pain relief)-NO BIG DEAL To get sufficient heat down deep I doubled the microwave (1500 watt oven) time to 65 seconds. & fell asleep listening to music.More effective & cheaper than a trip to a doctor for muscle The drug was unnecessary. relaxant drugs which she prescribed since it can pinpoint the area. This will be my go to for muscle relaxation instead of doctors & drugs for muscle relaxation. Probably nnot advisable for internal infection pain.

Just what the doctor didn't order, but glad I did
I had the worst Torticollis I had ever had. Usually it would pass in a day or so but this just got worse. Dr rather reluctantly prescribed muscle relaxants and painkillers but they only took the edge off. This item brought my sanity back. I went for the unscented one but still you can smell the grain inside and that smell is great! The heat is just right, my only criticism, which is minor, is it doesn't last as long as I would like. But yes, it has instructions how to top the heat up. It eased the pain so I could then start moving the neck and normality was resumed :-)

The size is good for any body part and it and holds heat/cold for hours. I got the unscented one and it has a very light, earthy smell of rice & flaxseed. I will be getting a second one with smell so I can use it for my neck to relax.
